It’s no secret that Republican Steven Welch is wealthy, and everyone expects him to spend from his own wallet in his attempt to win a Congressional seat. That perception has only heightened since he …

Schroder gets a campaign manager
State Representative Curt Schroder (R-Chester) has hired a campaign chief for his 6th District Congressional run.
Schroder announced Tuesday that he had hired Kyle Whatley as his campaign manager. The Texas native has worked for Congressional and mayoral campaigns in the Lone Star State. He moved to Pennsylvania to manage Schroder’s campaign.
“My wife and I would not have moved almost two thousand miles if I was not absolutely certain Curt Schroder was going to …

Meehan and Welch: Nothing but nice things to say
Steven Welch is “very impressive.” So says Pat Meehan.
Pat Meehan is a “good-government guy.” So says Steven Welch.
If there’s any enmity between Welch and Meehan after the former ditched his 7th Congressional district aspirations for the latter, neither candidate is showing a hint. By all accounts, Welch and Meehan already had a good relationship before Meehan signaled his interest in the race, prompting Welch, at the behest of GOP leaders, to run for …

Welch: ‘I won’t be moving’
As he gears up to run for Congress in the 6th District, Republican Steven Welch faces the prospect of an inevitable attack: He doesn’t live there.
Welch, a wealthy businessman and entrepreneur, lives in Phoenixville. And while most of the town resides in the 6th, the sliver where he and his family resides is in the 7th.
But don’t expect Welch, who had …

Schroder camp notes Welch’s residency, but doesn’t criticize
State Representative Curt Schroder’s (R-Chester) campaign made sure to point out that its newest opponent doesn’t actually live in the 6th District Saturday, but stopped short of an outright attack on that front.
In a statement following Republican Steven Welch’s announcement that …

Switching races for Meehan, Welch to run in 6th District
Republican businessman Steven Welch said Saturday that he will run for Congress in the 6th District, abandoning his campaign for the 7th District seat now being pursued by former U.S. Attorney Pat Meehan.
Ever since Meehan made clear last month that he would be seeking the 7th District office instead of the governorship, GOP insiders had assumed Welch would, in one way or another, step aside for a candidate most Republicans consider more politically potent. …

Meehan set to announce Congressional bid Monday
Former U.S. Attorney Pat Meehan seems ready to announce his run for Congress on Monday, with a series of events across the 7th District that are being billed as a “major campaign announcement.”
Meehan, who was preparing a run for governor before signaling last month that he would step aside in favor of state Attorney General Tom Corbett, has been considered a lock to enter the race for Democrat Joe Sestak’s seat ever since he …

Crowded fields another encouraging sign for GOP
I’ve take some heat in comments for suggesting next year, just maybe, might be a good one for the Republican Party. I could eat those words, of course. But the signs keep showing up.
One interesting, if hardly conclusive, sign is the level of candidate enthusiasm. After former U.S. Attorney Pat Meehan suggested he running for Lieutenant Governor. And neither Jim Gerlach nor Tom Corbett shows any signs of slowing down in the race …
