House Minority Leader John Boehner is coming back to Pennsylvania next week and will be the keynote speaker at the state Republican Party’s fall dinner in Harrisburg.

Boehner’s visit nest Friday comes after he made a summer fundraising swing through the state to benefit congressional candidates.

    Maybe.

Libertarian candidate Marakay Rogers says she’s prepared for the ballot challenge brought by Republicans. The York lawyer said she has more than 24,000 signatures, about 5,000 more than necessary to secure a place on the Nov. 2 ballot.

“The thing that’s disappointing is that…

  • State GOP looks to build grassroots strength

With November looming large, Pennsylvania Republicans announced a plan Thursday that they hope will revamp their party’s grassroots efforts and lead, eventually, to inexpensive voter mobilization on Election Day.

State GOP chairman Rob Gleason outlined the party’s so-called Victory Program during a late-morning conference call with reporters. He said it will “serve as a hub for the party’s grassroots efforts,” and will eventually involve 30 full-time staffers and 40,000 volunteers in 20 counties.

    “The success…

  • State GOP looks to strike third-party candidates

Republicans allied with the state GOP filed a slate of ballot challenges against third-party candidates for statewide office Monday, as the party looked to avoid a splinter of conservative votes in the fall.

A state party spokesman couldn’t immediately be reached for…

  • Gleason right to demand Jobgate answers

President Obama and his Chicago-style network of cronies have in fact lowered the transparency bar in Washington instead of raising it. Not only has it undermined the Obama presidency, it also continues to undermine politicians like Joe Sestak who pretend to battle the establishment when in fact they’ve been serving as its first line of defense.

It seems as though every day we learn something new about how ethically challenged this White House truly is.…

Jobgate continues, and the latest “target” is Gov. Ed Rendell.

State GOP chairman Rob Gleason has filed a Right-to-Know request seeking any correspondence between Rendell and White House officials that pertains to the White House’s efforts to keep Joe Sestak out of the Democratic Senate primary. The White House and Sestak have said that former President Bill Clinton was dispatch only to dangle an unpaid position. Rendell has said he spoke with White House chief…

  • Issa not letting up on ‘Jobgate’ anytime soon

HERSHEY—Asked how much longer he’ll keep pushing the White House for answers on its attempts to coax Democrats out of primaries by dangling job offers, Darrell Issa had a simple reply.

“Until I get them,” Issa said.

The Republican congressman from California was speaking to reporters here Friday evening before he was set to deliver the keynote speech at the state GOP’s summer dinner. Issa has become something of a hero to Pennsylvania Republicans after…

  • National results: A kinder, gentler GOP?

Democrats have been hoping, and Republicans fearing, that a hard-right, Tea Party-based GOP would squander its many advantages heading into this fall’s elections in Pennsylvania and elsewhere. This week’s primary results suggest that fear—if it remains real—may be somewhat exaggerated.
