The second TV ad from Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper’s (D-3) first reelection campaign offers up a small handful of policies that the freshman incumbent says will encourage job creation in the northwest Pennsylvania district.
The 30-second spot, unveiled by her campaign Tuesday, touts Dahlkemper’s support for high-speed Internet access, high-speed rail and immigration reform that “prevents illegal immigrants from unfairly competing with people who live and work here lawfully.” Dahlkemper has already aired a 60-second spot …

LEFTOVERS: Sestak on Israel, fact-checking Dahlkemper, Kaine on Pa.
Democrat Joe Sestak has often been criticized by conservatives for signing onto a letter to President Obama, in which pEven some Democrats in the Jewish community told him he made a mistake and Sestak, we’re told, privately conceded he should have drafted his own, more carefully worded letter. Well, Sestak has now taken that sentiment public./p

LEFTOVERS: Onorato on the shale, a cancellation in the 3rd, Critz on Simpson
Another day, another news conference for Democrat Dan Onorato to hammer gubernatorial rival Tom Corbett.
This time Onorato was in Harrisburg talking up his plan for getting all that natural gas out of the Marcellus Shale—and talking down Corbett’s plan. The main difference between the two? Onorato supports a severance tax on the drilling companies, Corbett doesn’t. Corbett’s support for what’s been called “voluntary” drilling standards; his opposition to limiting new drilling in state forests; …

Dahlkemper launches TV campaign
Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper (D-3) this week took her considerable financial advantage to the airwaves, launching a 60-second TV ad as her first reelection bid enters the homestretch.
Dahlkemper’s campaign said the ad started airing Monday in the Erie media market, but did not specify whether it was running on cable, broadcast or both. Erie is Dahlkemper’s home base, and the northwest Pennsylvania district is one of the cheaper House seats in which to advertise. Dahlkemper, …

A guy from Butler in an Erie battleground
In seeking to represent the 3rd Congressional District, Republican Mike Kelly has a host of political advantages. The anti-incumbent, anti-Democratic environment may be especially harsh in the conservative-leaning northwest Pennsylvania district. Incumbent Kathy Dahlkemper is, at least on paper, one of the most vulnerable Democrats in Congress. And her role in shaping abortion compromises in the new health care law has made the district a battleground for outside advocacy groups.
But there’s one, much more …

Conservative group running ads in five Pa. districts
A prominent conservative group launched a major advertising campaign this week to decry congressional spending—and five competitive House races in Pennsylvania are among the group’s targets.
The ad from Americans for Prosperity decries last year’s economic stimulus package as wasteful spending. It was already seen airing in the 3rd Congressional District this week, where incumbent Democrat Kathy Dahlkemper’s campaign was quick to push back with an e-mail to supporters.
How much is being spent for …
