O’Brien: Kanjorski’s vote against stimulus was ‘insulting’
A possible Democratic challenger to Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-11) says Kanjorski’s vote against President Obama’s stimulus package in January was an affront to the voters who elected him.
Lackawanna County Commissioner Corey O’Brien, who is mulling a primary fight against the 24-year incumbent, said that Kanjorski’s vote—he was only one of p“He voted against it because he felt there a id="s2re" title="wasn't enough Republican input" href="http://www.citizensvoice.com/articles/2009/01/30/news/wb_voice.20090130.t.pg2.cv30cdkanjorski_s1.2269276_loc.txt" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','http://www.citizensvoice.com']);return TrackClick("http%3A%2F%2Fwww.citizensvoice.com%2Farticles%2F2009%2F01%2F30%2Fnews%2Fwb_voice.20090130.t.pg2.cv30cdkanjorski_s1.2269276_loc.txt','wasn')">wasn’t enough Republican input, and that’s offensive,” O’Brien told pa2010.com Friday “We voted for the Congressman so he could represent our interests in …

A Dem challenger for Kanjorski?
Gort42 has the speculation that Lackawanna County Commissioner Corey O’Brien might challenge Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-11).
Kanjorski, assuming he runs again, is typically seen as more vulnerable in the general election. He was considered the most vulnerable Democrat in Congress last year, but squeaked out a victory against Republican Lou Barletta.
Should be interesting to see what happens on the Democratic side.
This past week a few people have told me that Lackawanna County Commissioner Corey O’Brien is gearing up for a primary challenge to Kanjo in 2010 fo

State GOP to bring on full-time coordinator for 2010 House races
Faced with their smallest Congressional delegation in decades, state Republicans are preparing an aggressive push to win back House seats in 2010. With the goal of being competitive in at least seven districts, the party will for the first time bring on a full-time liaison to Congressional campaigns, state GOP Chairman Rob Gleason said.
“We’re going to have a full-time, experienced person whose only job is going to be recruiting for and managing Congressional races,” Gleason told pa2010.com. “We’ve never had that before. We’ve left it up to whoever shows up to see what kind of campaign they want to run.”

Republicans have lost five Congressional seats in the Keystone State in the last two elections, four of them in 2006. The party’s best hope for picking up a Democratic seat last year was scuttled when a wave of voters for Barack Obama helped longtime Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-11) win what late-campaign polling had depicted as a losing campaign. The GOP now controls only seven of the state’s 19 Congressional districts, a low-point even some Democrats think can’t get any worse for the GOP.April 19, 2009 at 6:02 pm | Comments (0)
