Dent takes a casino message to the streets

BETHLEHEM—Congressman Charlie Dent (R-15) is trying to tie his opponent to a sometimes-unpopular gaming industry, arguing that he’s failed to deliver property tax reform that was supposed to come with casinos.

National Democrats have added two more competitive Pennsylvania House districts to the long list of races they are targeting for advertising buys in the coming months.

Clinton headlining fundraiser for Callahan

Bill Clinton is coming to Allentown.

The former president will be in the Lehigh Valley on Aug. 10 to headline a fundraiser for congressional hopeful John Callahan. The Bethlehem mayor and White House recruit is running against incumbent Republican Charlie Dent in the 15th District.

Callahan’s campaign announced the fundraiser in an e-mail to supporters Saturday. An invitation to the event at a private residence in town did not list any minimum donation amounts.

Dent wants debates to be 1-on-1, without Towne

Jake Towne says he’s collected enough signatures to gain ballot access in the 15th Congressional District as an independent. But incumbent Republican Charlie Dent’s campaign sees the race as a two-man contest, and doesn’t want Towne muddying the political waters by participating in the coming campaign debates.
