Congressman Jim Gerlach (R-6) is continuing to rebuild his campaign coffers after an aborted gubernatorial run, and has raised more than $1 million since deciding to seek reelection early this year. But he has also spent heavily, and after Democrat Manan Trivedi had by far his best fundraising period of the campaign, the money race is the 6th Congressional District is surprisingly close.

More action, less bureaucracy needed to clean Up BP spill
The British Petroleum Deepwater Horizon spill has demonstrated that not only does oil and water not mix, but throw in bureaucracy, and you have a combination that can devastate the environment, idle entire industries and cause gut-wrenching misery.
Nearly three months have passed since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, uncorking a geyser of natural gas and oil and claiming the lives of 11 workers.
Like most Americans, I am extremely…

Trivedi added to DCCC program
Add Manan Trivedi to the list of Democrats that the party thinks can capture Republican-held seats.
Trivedi, the Reading doctor and candidate in the 6th Congressional District, was added on Monday to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s “Red to Blue” program. The program serves as the DCCC’s hub for promoting and helping candidates competing in Republican-controlled districts (the program also encompasses the committee’s open-seat efforts).

Pelosi lessons for GOP in the 12th
Few things unify Republican congressional candidates as much as their dogged, public criticism of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Even before she championed such legislation as health care reform and cap-and-trade energy bills, many GOP viewed Nancy Pelosi as an electoral boogieman, a polarizing figure whose agenda could form the basis of their political comeback.
But the defeat of Republican Tim Burns in the 12th District special election last month has raised questions about whether repetition…

War chest spent, Trivedi says he’s ready to reload
PHOENIXVILLE—In his first run for public office, Democrat Manan Trivedi faced a well-funded opponent and had his own challenges raising money.
But now that he’s squeezed out a win in the 6th Congressional District, spending almost every dollar in the process, Trivedi says he’s ready for the next challenge: facing an incumbent who will likely have as much cash as he needs in Republican Jim Gerlach.
“There’s this thought that we struggled to raise money,”…

Coleman group airs ad boosting Dent, Gerlach
Months ahead of competitive general election contests, Congressmen Jim Gerlach (R-6) and Charlie Dent (R-15) are already getting some help.
American Action Network, a conservative policy group, recently began airing a TV ad that bills the two incumbents as lawmakers who “understand what businesses need.”
The size of the ad buy remains unclear; since the spot doesn’t directly advocate the election or defeat of a political candidate, the group was not required to immediately disclose…
