  • The top 5 campaign Web sites

In its most basic form, a campaign Web site is little more than a bare-bones, online biography of a political candidate and a description of his or her stances on the issues. Such rudimentary creations do little to inspire in this digital world of contemporary politics.

But at its best, a campaign Web site is so much more. It is a gateway into a candidate’s political persona, a gathering place for supporters, a strategic hub…

  • Behind the wheel, Diamond hits Metcalfe over pension

Republican Russ Diamond is keeping up his YouTube-driven campaign for Lieutenant Governor, using his latest missive to hit opponent Daryl Metcalfe over the state pension he receives with the rest of his colleagues.

The new clip from Diamond, who founded the reform group PACleanSweep, amounts to a “video challenge” in which Diamond cites a state Constitution stipulation that members of the General Assembly shall receive “salary and mileage” and “no other compensation whatever.”

  • Metcalfe to illegals: Leave or go to jail

State Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) on Tuesday unveiled his own “Arizona-style” immigration law, one that would create a new state-level criminal offense for being in Pennsylvania illegally and require law enforcement to verify the status of those they suspect are illegal immigrants.

His legislative package, which he called National Security Begins at Home, came as the conservative firebrand has sought to carve out a niche to the right of his eight other primary opponents for…

  • Metcalfe: I ‘blindsided’ the party

State Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) is pretty happy with himself. In a political culture and media environment that makes keeping secrets a tall order, Metcalfe slipped one by political insiders earlier this month, when he surprised all watchers by filing nominating petitions to run for Lieutenant Governor earlier this month.

His candidacy made it a whopping nine Republicans on the ballot for the office, and with unrest in the party’s base palpable, a movement conservative…
