Is Santorum Actually Running for Vice President?
by ChrisMcGann on July 2, 2011 at 2:14 pm
Former Pa. Senator Rick Santorum, who announced his run for president pSantorum has long positioned himself as a very conservative and often polarizing figure and that could hurt him if moderate Republicans make up a healthy portion of the primary voters. Santorum, however will be competing against better-known Conservatives such as Sarah Palin, Ron Paul and a href="http://www.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/06/13/bachmann.running.president/index.html?hpt=hp_t1" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','http://www.cnn.com']);return TrackClick("http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F2011%2FPOLITICS%2F06%2F13%2Fbachmann.running.president%2Findex.html%3Fhpt%3Dhp_t1','Michele+Bachmann')"Michele Bachmann/a, who has also formally announced for the presidency during the second GOP presidential debate. On the other hand, primary voters might decide to go with the most electable candidate such as Mitt Romney or even Rudy Giuliani who could appeal to more moderate voters./p

While his obvious goal is the White House, Santorum might ultimately have to settle for the vice presidential nominee to a more moderate Republican. The vice presidential candidate can serve as a political attack dog, usually freeing the top of the ticket from most of the mudslinging. …

A sizable majority of Pennsylvania voters oppose passage of the Employee Free Choice Act, which is quickly becoming issue No. 1 in the 2010 Senate race, according to a new poll.

Meehan increasingly pressured to take a back seat

It started as the whispers of Republican concerns that a promising gubernatorial race could be derailed by a tough, intra-party fight.

All three have made their requests in letters to Meehan. All have touted the political potential of a ticket that combines Meehan and …

What would Catherine think?
by Bill Kortz
PITTSBURGH—The Pennsylvania State Democratic Committee held a dinner here last weekend to celebrate the life of one of our most beloved Democrats from Western Pennsylvania, the late Lt. Gov. One that stood out the most was her commitment to the people of Pennsylvania, and her sense of inclusion for all.
But the dinner that was supposed to honor C.B.K. was anything …
