Poll shows Corbett, Toomey with smaller leads
The Republican Party’s statewide candidates are carrying only modest advantages into the homestretch before Election Day, according to a new poll.
The Times Leader survey published Sunday found GOP gubernatorial nominee Tom Corbett leading Democrat Dan Onorato by just one point, 38 percent to 37 percent. A full quarter of likely voters are still undecided, according to the poll. And the same survey showed Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey edging Democrat Joe Sestak by four…

Sestak ad: ‘Serving our country vs. serving Wall Street’

A new TV ad from Democratic Senate candidate Joe Sestak seeks to paint a simple choice for voters—service to country vs. service to Wall Street.
The 30-second spot continues what has long since becomes a familiar argument for Democrats: that Republican Pat Toomey is beholden to the financial sector, having worked for it in the 1980s, supported deregulation in Congress and run the conservative Club for Growth which was founded by industry interests.
The ad…

Club for Growth: Sestak’s Navy service great, but…
A new TV ad from the conservative Club for Growth takes a moment to acknowledge and laud Democrat Joe Sestak’s 31-year service in the Navy, before quickly pivoting to argue that “his service in Congress is the problem.”
The 30-second spot is the second run against Sestak by the conservative group, which was founded by financial industry interests and until early last year was headed by Sestak’s Republican opponent, Pat Toomey. The Club for Growth…

New Toomey ad keeps up health care attack

The latest TV ad from Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey continues his campaign’s dogged efforts at making sure Democrat Joe Sestak’s support for the recent health care overhaul comes back to bite him in November.
The 30-second spot, which the campaign unveiled Thursday and said would be airing on broadcast networks, features Maria DeMario, a family practice physician in Sestak’s district. DeMario criticizes the health care law, and says she couldn’t get a meeting with…

Clinton stumps for Onorato, Sestak

Former President Bill Clinton rolled through the Philadelphia area Monday to boost the electoral hopes of gubernatorial candidate Dan Onorato and Senate hopeful Joe Sestak.
The pair of morning stops came as Clinton increasingly plays the role of cheerleader-in-chief for the Democratic Party ahead of the midterm elections. At a rally for Onorato in West Philadelphia, Clinton hearkened back the support he received from the City of Brotherly Love.
“If Philadelphia shows up in this…
