Gerlach, CasablancaPA blogger share common criticism of Corbett
September 8, 2009 at 8:15 pm
Jim Gerlach stopped by the Capitol Tuesday and made a quasi-bold attempt to interject himself in the state budget impasse. Gerlach, the congressman who is giving up his seat in the 6th CD to run for governor, said state lawmakers should lose pay for every day a budget is not passed.
Gerlach is aiming for a Republican primary win over Full Story
How much will ideology matter for Democrats in guv race?
September 1, 2009 at 11:57 am
Generally, we hate headlines that are questions, since it implies the writer doesn’t really know what the hell kind of conclusion they want to make. So let’s just get this disclosure over with: We do not KNOW what role ideology will play in the pHowever, it was interesting last Friday at the a href="http://www.padems.com/Home.php" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','http://www.padems.com']);return TrackClick("http%3A%2F%2Fwww.padems.com%2FHome.php','Pennsylvania+Democratic+Party')"Pennsylvania Democratic Party /acommittee meeting in Camp Hill thata href="http://www.friendsofjoehoeffel.com/" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','http://www.friendsofjoehoeffel.com']);return TrackClick("http%3A%2F%2Fwww.friendsofjoehoeffel.com%2F','Montgomery+County%22s+Joe+Hoeffel')"> Montgomery County’s…

Sestak & Toomey feed each other lovin’ spoonfuls
August 24, 2009 at 4:41 pm
Since Congressman Joe Sestak announced his challenge to Senator Arlen Specter in the Democratic primary, a mutual admiration society has formed between Sestak and Republican Pat Toomey.
The liberal Democrat and the conservative…

Former Gov. Tom Ridge was the king of political TV Thursday night after advance copies of his new book, The Test of Our Times, were released. Ridge asserts that during his tenure as the nation’s first head of Homeland Security, he questioned whether an attempt by White House officials to raise the terror threat was more about politics than protecting America.
Ridge resigned after the 2004 election and has since then denied politics played a…

Pat Toomey welcomed Joe Sestak to the U.S. Senate hunt and then promptly said what does it matter whether the Democrats nominate Sestak or Arlen Specter. They’re both liberals who are going to spend America into oblivion.
Presumably, being a fiscal conservative means Wall Street can handle everything about the U.S. economy.
But the bigger point of the day for Toomey was his decision to come out looking, well, like a Democrat, at least on…

Joe Sestak vs. Arlen Specter isn’t Barack Obama vs. Hillary Clinton, but it’s pretty damn close, especially in a state where the idea of a mega-showdown between the 79-year-old incumbent and the 57-year-old former Navy admiral invokes Battlestar Galactica primary flashbacks.
In that way, Sestak isn’t so much announcing his 2010 primary challenge against Specter today. He is ratcheting up the feeding frenzy he’s started back in April, when Sestak was the first and loudest…
Full StoryBudget by Twitter? Media allowed into state lawmakers’ six-man pow-wow
July 28, 2009 at 8:32 pm
The media will be allowed into a meeting tomorrow of the six state lawmakers who now have the budget ball in their court.
That means the Pennsylvania state budget talks will be played out in the court of public opinion.
The Twitter budget?
This is an unprecedented move, but one that will no doubt thrill those of us drama queens who like a good round of verbal sparring and pseudo-niceties between warring factions

Maybe it’s time to commission Muhlenberg or Franklin & Marshall or Quinnipiac for a new poll. The question I have for Pennsylvanians is this:
How much would you pay to NOT have Arlen Specter and Joe Sestak spend the next 10 months beating the living crud out of each other?
a) 1 cent
b) 1 dollar
c) $1 million
d) your firstborn child
I am personally leaning between $1 and $1 million, because, frankly, the…
