Spring for the GOP
May 2, 2010 at 1:13 pm
Most people know that Republican organizations have big fundraisers with the annual Lincoln Day Dinner in February. But 13 years ago, the Upper Moreland Republican Committee inaugurated a new idea—a spring brunch in April that didn’t come with snow, but did bring with it elected officials, federal and local, as well as committee people from all over the county.
This year, the 13th annual Upper Moreland Republican Committee Spring Brunch at the Huntingdon Valley Country…

The usual disclosure—I work for Fitzpatrick’s campaign.

Bucks County, where a hotly-contested race for Congress has been brewing since the beginning of the year, has a bit of Republican news to cheer about (the usual disclosure, I’m working for Republican candidate Mike Fitzpatrick in this race).

Yes, we all know that I work for Republican congressional candidate Mike Fitzpatrick.
But this time I’m just being the messenger.
Back from a little break
April 7, 2010 at 9:10 am
Sorry I’ve been away, but Suburban Snapshot took a family break. Now I’m back and ready to report on what I’ ve been hearing.
While I was visiting family in Denver, it was amazing the people who voted for President Obama there and are now expressing OBR: Obama Buyers Remorse. I heard it walking out of church, while I was waiting in line at the supermarket, and even from some members of my family. And…

Long before Glenn Beck and the Tea Party movement, Pennsylvania held its first Tea Party in Harrisburg in 1989, with a few people who believed in the idea that conservatives should have a voice. In 21 years, the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference has now become the premiere annual gathering of Keystone State conservatives.
This idea of a state level conservative conference came from two college students who attended the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in…

All three Republican candidates in the 13th Congressional District—Josh Quinter, Brian Haughton and Dee Adcock—have found their nominating petitions subjected to legal challenge.
And interestingly, all three challenges come from the same three people, according to public records: Sharon Boddy and Charles Gramlich of Abington Township, along with former Bryn Athyn Mayor Hyland Johns.
I realize that nominating petitions are challenged all the time, but here’s the skinny: If you check back in the Congressional…

March 11, 2010 at 9:19 am
Suburban Snapshot made it out to the Tea Party rally in Glenside this week. The Kitchen Table Patriots and the Thomas Jefferson Club were my hosts, and contrary to some liberal conventional wisdom, these folks aren’t fanatics.
Creativity was there in abundance. The homemade signs were clever, and definitely got the point across that the Democrats need to slow down on ramming through this health care reform bill. One of the best signs I saw…

Philadelphia resident Brian Haughton is the Philly GOP’s endorsed candidate in the 13th Congressional District. This firefighter and small business owner of “SmokeEaters Pub,” a firefighting-themed bar and restaurant believes so much that he can win that he has gotten over 100 Democrats to switch parties so they can vote for him in the primary.
“I believe in duty and being there for people,” he says. “I also believe that people should be trusted to…
