  • pa2010.com is changing hands… and I’m moving on

    October 12, 2010 at 6:27 pm

I’m the kind of guy who hates leaving things unfinished. In this case, I’m going to have to make an exception.

It’s been 18 months since pa2010.com went online. Ten days later, a man named Arlen Specter switched parties, turning Pennsylvania’s political landscape on its head. In the weeks and months since, we’ve done our best here to turn this site into the state’s go-to destination for insiders and political junkies.

    Because of you, and…

  • LEFTOVERS: A guv debate, more Senate ads, a Callahan spot, cops for Fitz

    October 6, 2010 at 5:07 pm

Looks like we’ll actually be getting two more gubernatorial debates before Election Day.

One more has been added to the schedule, and this one is set to go down Oct. 18. It’ll be aired on the local ABC affiliate in Philadelphia, giving Republican Tom Corbett and Democrat Dan Onorato what could potentially be their biggest debate audience of the campaign.

That debate will come just two days after the candidates have their second debate, a…

  • LEFTOVERS: Rendell says get over it, Kanjo & reporters, Meehan talks corruption

    October 5, 2010 at 4:21 pm

Give Ed Rendell this much: The lame-duck governor is nothing if not the fighter-conscience of the Democratic Party.

Rendell this week joined the Obama administration in telling liberals to buck up before the midterm elections, and leave their malaise at the door.

“This isn’t about President Obama,” Rendell said late Monday on MSNBC. “It’s about whether the Democratic Party, not perfect, but certainly bent on trying to preserve theories in government and progressive practices, is…

    October 5, 2010 at 3:14 pm

The latest of many so-called “hit sites” from campaigns is here. This one comes from Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dan Onorato, targeting Republican rival Tom Corbett.

  • Candidates do Radio Times

    October 1, 2010 at 7:12 am

One of our favorite programs, “Radio Times” on WHYY, is in the midst of a series of interviews with Pennsylvania’s candidates for office.

They’ve already had a few hopefuls on the show, which we’ve enjoyed thoroughly.

So check them out for yourself.

And click here for Manan Trivedi.

  • LEFTOVERS: More poll results, Critz’s first ad

    September 28, 2010 at 3:44 pm

The number of polls whizzing by us the last few weeks have been dizzying. Naturally, there are two we’ve missed already this week.

The first is Magellan Data and Mapping Strategies. Like other public polls, Magellan found Republicans winning the statewide races. Tom Corbett leads Dan Onorato in the gubernatorial race by 12 points, 50 percent to 38 percent. Pat Toomey leads Joe Sestak in the Senate race by eight points, 49 percent to 41…

  • LEFTOVERS: Labor mail, Dukakis for Trivedi, Lentz mocks Meehan’s debate skills

    September 27, 2010 at 4:19 pm

Organized labor continues to play big in the direct-mail game ahead of November.

The state’s AFL-CIO rolled out its latest mail pieces Monday, the third week in a row it’s hitting up homes across Pennsylvania. The new mail pieces, targeting Senate candidate Pat Toomey and six GOP House candidates, paint Republican hopefuls as friends of Wall Street who want to outsource American jobs.

They err on at least one count, the same count that has…
