DEMOCRATIC MAYOR OF KANJORSKI’S HOMETOWN ENDORSES LOU BARLETTA

HAZLETON – Joseph Dougherty, the Democratic mayor of Paul Kanjorski’s hometown, today publicly endorsed Lou Barletta for Congress.

Mayor Dougherty said he supported Kanjorski in the past, but said Monday morning on the Sue Henry Show, WILK News Radio, that Kanjorski doesn’t represent Nanticoke’s best interests anymore.

Mayor Dougherty said:

“Nanticoke needs someone in Washington that’s going to represent people in Nanticoke. I don’t feel Paul that has his best interest on Nanticoke anymore.“I am voting for Lou Barletta.

“I believe its time for a change in Washington. What I see is that people are really struggling to pay their bills, get their prescriptions, take care of their families, and I think Washington has turned their back on the American people.”

Mayor Dougherty said he’s been urging all of his supporters to vote for Lou Barletta.

Mayor Barletta thanked Mayor Dougherty for his endorsement and pledged to work for all people of the 11^th Congressional District.

“Mayor Dougherty publicly said what I’ve been hearing from people all across the 11^th District – Paul Kanjorski is out of touch with the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Cities like Nanticoke and Hazleton and other towns, boroughs, townships, and villages here are struggling, and Mr. Kanjorski doesn’t seem to understand that. But Mayor Dougherty does, and he sees how Mr. Kanjorski has failed communities all across the 11^th District,” Lou Barletta said. “I’m proud to accept Mayor Dougherty’s endorsement, and I commend him for his courageous stand. I know it’s not easy to stand up, but tomorrow, thousands of people all across this district will stand with Mayor Dougherty and me.”
