Senator Casey speaks
Interview by Laura Goldman for http://PA2010.com
Senator Casey might not be on the ballot, but he is campaigning hard for the Democratic ticket. He stopped by Organizing for America’s headquarters to thank volunteers.
Casey dismissed polls that show Democrats Dan Onorato and Joe Sestak trailing their Republican counterparts. Casey said, “I have the privilege of seeing the private polls and they are much closer. The Democrats are down only 1 to 2 points with momentum on our side. It is the same in the Congressional races. The polls in August do not matter. People were not paying attention to the race then. The last three weeks are when they are making their decision.”
Casey also debunked an old wives tale of Pennsylvania political history – Two Democrats can’t win statewide in the same year. He proudly said, “Rendell and I did it in 2006. Before that, two Democrats hadn’t won since 1934.
He acknowledged the frustration of the voters. “They may be angry at the Democrats,” stated Casey. “When they start researching the alternative, they will soon realize that they will not be getting what they need from the Republicans. I still can not believe that in one week, three weeks ago, the Republicans voted against a bill that would have helped small businesses and voted for another bill that would double the deficit by lowering taxes on the wealthiest Americans.”
Casey, who famously has broken with his own party on abortion, showed some glee at the disarray of the Republican Party since the advent of the Tea party. He noted, “Bob Bennett from Utah voted with the Republic Party 93% of the time, yet the Republicans threw him over in the caucuses for a Tea Party candidate. The same thing happened to Mike Castle, a moderate, in Delaware. I can not wait for the Republican Presidential primaries.” His number one priority is “jobs, jobs. jobs. 14-15 million people are out of work across the nation and 590,000 here in Pennsylvania.”
After our interview, he stopped to talk to a homeless vet. When the Vet asked for money, Casey gave his last dollar and the turned to ask his aide for some more money.

Bob better enjoy the time he has left in Congress. Him and his unibrow will be gone soon. His father was a decent man. This Casey is a pathetic hack.

So, Frank, do you make all of your political decisions based upon eyebrows?

Sestak has a chance. He’s within striking distance, both candidate’s favorables to unfavorables are virtually the same, so anything could happen in that one on Tuesday.
Onorato has no chance. He’s not within striking distance, Corbett’s favorables are at least noticeably better than his unfavorables, Onorato’s favorables to unfavorables are more in the same boat as Toomey and Sestak. If Onorato was running against Toomey or Sestak, then yeah, he’d have a chance. But since he’s running against Corbett, he has no chance.

As a lifelong democrat I urge anyone in Philly to vote against Rat Boy, Dan Ono”RAT”o, who is Anti-Philadelphia and a spoiled little, noodnink aka Rendell Lite. He sabotaged Saidel’s campaign (who is a gentleman and smarter than anyone in Harrisburg) and is best friends with Ballard Spahr Thief John E$tey. Vote for Corbett and show those bedbugs from Western and Central PA that you do not mess with Philly. PS-Rendell is from New York and a certified Hall of Fame Carpet Bagger.

Cocklin: Let’s be fair, Ed Rendell lived in Philly for decades before going to Harrisburg… he’s been here since college, which ought to count for something. And besides, Corbett’s not exactly from Philly either…
Even so, Corbett is the better choice for Philadelphia and Pennsylvania at large.

I agree that his Casey is a disgrace. We need term limits for all members of CONgress so we can get these corrupt career politicians out of office. I am tired of the 2 party system in this country. We need a party to represent the people in the middle who are not left or right wing whackos. The Tea Party seemed like a start but it was quickly taken on over by the right wing Rep. I always vote Independent when I can, and then base my decision on who will do the least damage when there is no Independent.

Unless Casey makes a huge screwup (unlikely) or the GOP runs someone like Ridge (possible), Casey easily wins re-election in 2012. His name recognition is too much for any GOP candidate to overcome.

Gary-
Ridge is never running for office again. The far Right of the GOP base hates him for being pro-choice, but they will trot him out to endorse their candidates who need to appeal to moderates.
Ridge has a cushy job on the board of some company and has no desire for the aggravation of dealing with a campaign and the new GOP.
