Rothfus takes to TV with fiscal message

Rothfus takes to TV with fiscal message

Six weeks before Election Day, Republican Keith Rothfus has taken his campaign against Congressman Jason Altmire (D-4) to the airwaves.

Rothfus’ first TV ad started airing Tuesday. A candidate who has turned heads with his fundraising ability after knocking off former U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan in the primary, he’s on the air earlier than Altmire was when he unseated Republican Melissa Hart in 2006. Altmire still enjoys a strong financial advantage, and has already been on the air for weeks. But spending by outside groups and a strong performance by statewide GOP candidates in the western Pennsylvania district could lift Rothfus to a better showing than some expect.

The first 30-second spot says Rothfus has a plan to “root out wasteful government spending” and “remove barriers so business can create jobs.” It criticizes Altmire for playing “follow the leader” with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Rothfus still hasn’t said anything that isn’t a Right-Wing talking point. Talking points that sound good, but have never actually been done by the Republican party when they have been in power.

Cut taxes and spend millions – then blame Democrats that have actually voted to lower income taxes.

I will be voting for Altmire – he voted for the stimulus fund because it included a $400 dollar tax cut for all of us. He continues to be a voice of reason in Congress when hundreds have decided to vote on ideological lines instead of what is right for the people they represent.

Rothfus has never pointed out anything of substance when he says Altmire needs to be gone. Rothfus loves to say that Altmire voted for the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. Rothfus never mentions that his former boss George W. Bush signed the legislation.

What is the big deal about Rothfus being on the air ‘early’ and spending his money now to try to get any name recognition? If he was anywhere close to being relevant, he would be saving his money to be spent wisely in the last few weeks.

Rothfus is 27 points down. At this point in 2006, Congressman Altmire was already statistically even with Melissa Hart: http://progresspittsburgh.net/2006/09/21/can-jason-altmire-take-out-melissa-hart/

Rothfus doesn’t have anything to really say in this ad that will help fix America.

Wow. So if he’s so far behind and so irrelevant, why do you care? Maybe because he’s not? The 27 points down was a bunch of hooey as that 27 points was all undecided likely voters. No one really knows what ‘likely voter’ means this year, a year when a lot of people are energized to vote who might not normally vote in a mid-term election.

And if Jason is so beloved by his constituents, why is Keith ahead of him in funding from people who actually live in PA? Why is Jason’s funding coming from out of state?

And just cutting spending would do a heck of lot more to help fix America than anything Jason can point to in 4 years time. Or have you forgotten the 3 trillion dollars added to the debt in the last two years, budgets that Mr. Altmire voted for???????

What’s the plan? Rothfus keeps saying he has a plan but I see nothing but vacuous GOP slogans.

Non-partisan fact check organizations have proven the “votes with Nancy Pelosi” stats to be wildly misleading since they include lots of votes for post offices and other issues that most people don’t care about. On the big issues that people here DO care about – Obamacare, cap and trade, bailing out Wall Street – he has a 100% record of voting with us!

That is exactly the reasoning Altmire was hoping to acheive with his so-called “moderate” voting record. He looks like he’s representing us well, as long as you don’t dig too deep. Just sit back and accept the advertised talking points from his campaign and all will be well. Don’t look into the details of things, you know, sort of like “move along, nothing to see here.” That’s the kind of voter Altmire is counting on to win this election. (And beleive me, he wants this one really bad so he can be vested in the federal pension program for the rest of his life. How old is he, 46?)

Check out Rothfus’s website to see his position on the issues:

    http://www.keithpa4.com

I don’t see anything coming from Altmire with regard to his specific ideas to fix the mess we’re in. How come? What’s his plan? He has no excuse to not give one; he’s the one who has been in DC for 2 terms. He should have all kinds of ideas, right? Now would be the time to share them.

Ever asked him a question at a “town hall” meeting? You get 10-15 minutes of talking with no answer in sight. I’ll give him that; he sure can talk better about nothing than anybody I’ve heard.

His votes on “big” issues? Don’t you think those guys discuss this stuff with the Big Boss ahead of time? They get to “pass” on some votes to keep their reputation as “moderate.” I would bet my bottom dollar that Pelosi let him pass on the first Stimlus, healthcare, and cap and trade. IF she needs his vote, she’ll get it.

If he had our wishes at heart, than why did he take so long to make up his mind about the healthcare vote? He knew what we wanted- he admitted almost a week before the vote that he was hearing more from the people against the bill than for- why all the drama of announcing his decision two days before the vote?

How about the fact that Altmire voted to allow the Dems to use “deem and pass” on healthcare, if they needed it, even though polling showed our district was absolutley against passing the bill in this manner. Why would he do that? Why would he vote against us? Because Pelosi needed deem and pass in case she couldn’t get the votes the old-fashioned way, and Altmire voted to give it to her. That not what I would call voting with us. Plus he has publicly stated he will never vote to repeal Obamacare, despite the fact that his district does not want it. Why not? Why not represent the district’s wishes?

He also voted for the second stimulus right AFTER he was safely re-elected, and he recently voted to cut funding for food stamps to give money to teachers and their unions. I don’t know about you, but taking money away from hungry people sure doesn’t represent my values.

What about the simple fact that he voted for Pelosi in the first place? It’s thanks to people like him that we have her as SOTH. Is he going to vote for her again if he gets re-elected? Nobody knows (see Paragraph #2 for explanation.)

We need leadership in DC representing us, not playing games with Pelosi. I’m voting for the new guy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJEgKgkx0zw look at this video 45 minutes in and hear Mr Altmire say that not passing the health reform bill was not an option. Believe him about Pelosi not giving him a pass? And see John Dingell pat him on the back and say Good job Jason. How upset is leadership with him? I went to Altmires town hall and I asked him a question that he refused to answer. Called his office today to see if he would vote not to adjourn so that they could vote on tax extensions. They didn’t know how he would vote. But there are 400 fundraisers in 14 days in DC. That is why they are in session. Throw them all out!

Pelosi allowed Altire to vote against Obamacare so that he could be re-elected. He now says that he will NOT vote to repeal Obamacare and even wants to EXPAND it! Our district is OVERWHELMINGY against Obamacare. As a nurse I can see firt hand how it will destroy our healthcare system!

Rothfus will not accept a pension, he is for limiting government spending and control, for term limits, against cap and trade,

All things that people here in this district support! Altmire is only supported by Democratic Union Thugs!
