RGA moves cash for Corbett
National Republicans moved more than $1.5 million into a Keystone State political action committee this summer, with the goal of helping Attorney General Tom Corbett capture the Governor’s Mansion.
The Republican Governors Association made two transfers from its Wisconsin PAC to its Pennsylvania PAC in July, according to Wisconsin state campaign finance data. A transfer of $20,000 was made on July 6, and another $1.5 million was moved on July 27, according to a recently-filed campaign finance report from the RGA Wisconsin 2010 PAC.
The RGA maintains state PACs across the country, committees that help the umbrella organization play in gubernatorial races. The infusion of cash could signal that the GOP is preparing to step up its efforts for Corbett, who started the general election cycle with a financial advantage against Democratic nominee Dan Onorato.
It remains unclear how much money the RGA’s Pennsylvania committee has in the bank; campaign finance reports aren’t due to be filed here until later this month.
The money transfer was first noted by the liberal advocacy group Keystone Progress.

This is because republican fundraisers in PA have been telling big donors to Corbett to write checks to the RGA in stead of directly to the campaign to get around campaign finance regs and reporting here in PA. RGA didn’t get this money from the sky, it’s all PA donations just routed differently.
