Poll: Toomey up 7 points

Republican Pat Toomey is leading Democrat Joe Sestak by seven points in Pennsylvania’s competitive Senate race, according to a new poll.

The Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday showed Toomey garnering 50 percent of likely voters, compared to 43 percent for Sestak. It was one of the first polls in which Toomey hit the 50-percent mark. Only seven percent of likely voters are still undecided six weeks before Election Day.

Riding a wave of dissatisfaction with incumbents, Republican Mike Kelly is holding a six-point lead against Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper (D-3) six weeks before Election Day, according to a new poll.

The Franklin & Marshall College survey released Wednesday showed Kelly, a Butler car dealer, winning 44 percent of likely voters, compared to 38 percent for Dahlkemper. Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett entered the final seven weeks before Election Day sporting a big cash advantage against his Democratic rival, a financial edge he built in large part by avoiding a competitive primary.
