Corbett’s new ad hits funding for Specter library
The latest ad from GOP gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett doesn’t mention his Democratic rival, but takes aim at Gov. Ed Rendell and some spending items that Corbett says the state can do without.
The 30-second spot notes that Rendell is pushing tax and fee hikes to fund transpiration because Corbett has pledged not to raise taxes. “Well, he’s right about that. But how about instead of raising taxes, we cut the wasteful spending we know…

“I’m not a part of any organized political party, I’m a Democrat.”
-Will Rogers
In 2010, the above would be a better description of Republicans.
The party of Arlen Specter, John Heinz, and Dwight Eisenhower is now the party of Sarah Palin, Joe Miller, Christine O’Donnell, Sharon Angle, Joe Paladino, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul and Pat Toomey. In 2010, both Richard Nixon’s and Ronald Reagan’s views would get them kicked out of the party,…
Full StoryOnorato sees Corbett hypocrisy on spending
PHILADELPHIA—Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dan Onorato laced into his Republican rival on the issue of spending Wednesday, saying Attorney General Tom Corbett was being hypocritical by promising to slash spending even while his state row office has consistently sought larger budget appropriations.
Corbett has pledged not to raise taxes if elected governor, promising to cut spending instead. But noting that Corbett’s office has requested annual budget increases that average out to seven percent each year, Onorato…

After Democrats have spent months painting former U.S. Attorney Tom Marino as ethically suspect for boosting a casino owner even as his office investigated the man, that argument is finally being taken to the airwaves.

By DENT FOR CONGRESS
Following the first debate in the Fifteenth Congressional district race, Democrat John Callahan’s “five-point plan” has been revealed to be a big tax increase on American manufacturers who export products, to pay for a plan that will be completely ineffective in creating jobs.
Aside from becoming confused on the five points while explaining his “real simple plan” on Monday night, Callahan claims that his plan would:

By ONORATO FOR GOVERNOR
PHILADELPHIA: Democratic gubernatorial nominee Dan Onorato said today that while Harrisburg Republican Tom Corbett is contradicting himself on the campaign trail – calling for “across the board” cuts one minute, proposing millions of dollars of new spending the next – Corbett’s own record is quite consistent: he has asked for more and more taxpayer money to support his own office.

Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey continues to lead Pennsylvania’s competitive Senate race, topping Democrat Joe Sestak by eight points, according to a new poll.
Specter’s quote revived… in an anti-Crist ad
As if Arlen Specter’s infamous “enable me to be reelected” quote didn’t do enough damage to himself—it’s now being used to go after Florida Gov. Charlie Crist.
The Republican-turned-independent who’s running for Senate is under fire in a new Chamber of Commerce ad, which looks to paint him as just one of a series of flip-floppers. In addition to John Kerry’s famous I-Was-For-It-Bef0re-I-Was-Against-It line, Specter makes an appearance. His quote was part of Joe Sestak’s…

Democrats are slightly pulling back the TV help they’ll be giving to Congressmen Chris Carney (D-10) and Paul Kanjorski (D-11).
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has made some changes to its airtime reservations in northeast Pennsylvania, cutting off half-a-week’s worth of its planned TV buys in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre media market.

Are Republicans getting overconfident?
As has been said innumerable times, this looks like a much better year for Republicans than anyone thought even just a few months ago.
But the signs of overconfidence are in the air already. A few particulars:
• The expectations game: A few months ago, the GOP was talking about winning 20-30 seats and maybe, just maybe, gaining control of the House. Now it’s who will be the Speaker when we win, and can we…
