Labor targets Toomey, Pa. House races in mail campaign

A huge direct-mail campaign by the umbrella labor group AFL-CIO has Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey in its crosshairs, along with four GOP challengers in Pennsylvania congressional races.

The campaign, first reported Monday morning by Politico, is national in scope, consisting of more than two million mail pieces in numerous battleground states. The group’s mail piece against Toomey takes a familiar Democratic tack, painting the former congressman as someone who puts Wall Street’s interests above that of the middle class.

“Don’t be fooled by anti-worker U.S. Senate candidate PAT TOOMEY,” the mail piece says. “He went from being a Wall Street banker to one of the most anti-worker, anti-retiree, and anti-union congressmen in Washington. We couldn’t trust him then and we can’t trust him now.”

The mail campaign comes as conservative groups are pouring millions of dollars worth of independent expenditure TV buys into battleground races. The House districts being targeted with AFL-CIO mail are Kathy Dahlkemper’s 3rd District, Patrick Murphy’s 8th District, Chris Carney’s 10th District and Mark Critz’s 12th District.

Let’s not forget the rest of the Labor 2010 political program. The mail is only one part of a complete field and media campaign. Workers will be knocking on doors, passing out flyers at work and calling for AFL-CIO endorsed candidates. Union members make up about 30% of the vote, and vote for the endorsed candidate 65-70% of the time.

My mantra: If the union endorses them, I don’t vote for them.

My mantra is: I get the pension, living wage, and health care I deserve for the job I do. Maybe if Toomey gets in Kathleen you can work in a mining camp or something. Wouldn’t that be awesome.
I vote how I want, but it won’t be hard at all to vote for Admiral Sestak over the Mortgage Bundler. Lets make him the chair of the Finance Reform Commission and see how long it takes to double down on our recession.
