Fire fighters Endorse Congressman Carney for Reelection
By CARNEY FOR CONGRSS
CLARKS SUMMIT — Fire fighters from throughout the region endorsed Congressman Chris Carney for reelection on Monday at a campaign event in Carbondale. Among those at the endorsement ceremony were representatives from the International Association of Fire Fighters, the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association, and local fire fighters.
“As President of the PPFFA, I am proud to announce our support of Congressman Chris Carney,” said Art Martynuska, President of the Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association. “We take pride in standing with elected officials who stand side-by-side the brave men and women throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As both a former EMT and current Commander in the Navy Reserve, Congressman Carney is no stranger to being first on the scene, and has taken his experience to Congress and has done a tremendous job supporting the interests of our first responders.”
“Congressman Carney has stood on the frontline with firefighters and given us steadfast support throughout his tenure in Congress,” said Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association Secretary Treasurer Dave Schmidt. “To firefighters it doesn’t matter whether you are a Democrat, Republican, libertarian or conservative. When we find someone who supports the ideals of firefighters, we stand by them because we feel the public should know who really cares about protecting them. Congressman Carney has shown throughout his life that he is not unfamiliar with giving back to his community, as he served as an emergency medical technician through college. We are proud to offer the Congressman our full support and look forward to working with him in the future.”
“Congressman Carney has an outstanding record of supporting and fighting for fire fighters, first responders, the military and working families,” said Dave Gervasi, President of the Northeast Pennsylvania Firefighters Association. “We need Congressman Carney in Washington to continue to fight for those who protect our country and community. Congressman Carney didn’t need to ask for our endorsement, he worked his entire life to earn it.”
“I couldn’t be more gratified to receive the support of International, Statewide and local firefighters,” said Congressman Carney. “I was a first responder for four-plus years and I was on over 1,300 ambulance calls. And for many of those calls, we responded alongside firefighters. I know firsthand about the sacrifices of firefighters. I know what it is like to put your life on the line when the alarm goes off. It takes a special kind of person and I am so proud to receive the endorsement of firefighters”
