Dent starts TV, radio campaign

Just less than two months before Election Day, Congressman Charlie Dent (R-15) is taking to TV and radio airwaves with an argument against Democratic challenger John Callahan.

Dent’s campaign began airing its first spots Friday morning, both of which hit Callahan on the subject of property taxes. The first TV spot is airing on both cable and broadcast networks in the Lehigh Valley district. Callahan, who has kept pace with the incumbent’s fundraising, also launched his first TV ad this week.

“We need legislators in Congress who are going to focus their energies on getting government out of the way of small businesses and other job creators so that we can get our economy moving again,” Dent will write in an e-mail to supporters announcing the ad Friday afternoon.

The race is currently No. 5 on the pa2010.com Congressional Power Rankings.

Interesting that Dent’s first (and thus-far only) ad is 100% negative. Callahan’s ad is a mix, to be sure, but negative attacks usually come from a campaign that knows it is BEHIND.
