Corbett’s new ad hits funding for Specter library

Corbett’s new ad hits funding for Specter library

The latest ad from GOP gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett doesn’t mention his Democratic rival, but takes aim at Gov. Ed Rendell and some spending items that Corbett says the state can do without.

The 30-second spot notes that Rendell is pushing tax and fee hikes to fund transpiration because Corbett has pledged not to raise taxes. “Well, he’s right about that. But how about instead of raising taxes, we cut the wasteful spending we know is there?”

Corbett goes on to lambaste the multi-million renovation of the Capitol, the thousands spent to move a statue from the Governor’s Mansion and the millions appropriated for the proposed Arlen Specter Library.

See the ad below. It will be fact-checked later as part of pa2010.com‘s new AD WATCH feature.

Both sides are tired of the waste, this is a solid ad. Lets hope he can live up to his commitments. PA needs it.

The political environment is perfect for this kind of spot.

Advertising strategies aside, this race was over before it really started. Corbett wins comfortably.

Now if we can get Corbett to make a full on decision on Marcellus Shale vs. the looming budget hole…

He must mean unemployment insurance for all those lazy pennsylvanians who would rather collect a check than work for it.

    sick-
The GOP plan is to convince voters that Ed’s on the ballot for the third term, and Obama’s on the ballot to remain president.

Last time I checked, Obama won in 2008 running like Bush was running for a third term so ya…nice try

Until Onorato does something to distance himself from Rendell, why should anyone believe that he will approach government and the structure Rendell has built differently?

just amazes me that corbett would spend millions to run an ad that does not even address the central issues in this campaign…jobs and his opponent. Spending money to talk about two names, Specter and Rendell, when neither is on the ballot, seems strange.
Dan Onorato, unlike John McCain-Tom Corbett, has his own ideas..not just warmed over ideas form the persons he is runing to replace. Why doesn’t Corbett talk about issues Pennsylvania will face and how he will deal with them…because Corbett does not have ideas or a plan that will not sound like warmed over Bush policies, that is why.

I’m surprised they had Mr. Corbett in front of the camera speaking here … he isn’t exactly the most dynamic speaker out there.
