The latest TV ad from Congressman Jason Altmire (D-4) features the sophomore huddling with constituents on a football field opining on his votes and his political philosophy.

“There are a lot of people in Washington that aren’t happy with me right now,” Altmire says in the 30-second spot, which began airing earlier this week. “But my job is to do what’s right for folks here.”

Altmire, who faces Republican Keith Rothfus in his bid for a third term, goes on to say he couldn’t support health care reform that “won’t bring down costs.” Altmire has made his opposition to the new law a key selling point this cycle, and his first TV ad touted that as evidence of his independence.

See the ad below. It will be fact-checked later as part of pa2010.com‘s new AD WATCH feature.

I’m glad to see Jason Altmire out there with another ad showing his independence. I don’t agree with him on every issue and I don’t like every vote he’s cast but he does a good job representing a conservative district. I hope he wins big.

I don’t think voting with Pelosi 88.6% of the time is a good job representing a conservative district. Those numbers are right out of WaPo; I didn’t make them up.

I hope he loses big- if he gets re-elected this time he gets vested into the Congressional Federal Employee program, and then the BIG benefits start rolling in. He’ll always have his gold-star healthcare then, plus a healthy pension AND social security, and we’ll be the ones paying for it. Frankly, I don’t think he’s worth it.

The party voting percentages are a sham. That includes every simple resoloution and every bill that passes. So if we could find a website that would look past party affiliation you would find out that Boehner and Peolosi vote with each other more than you would think and therefore it skews all of these numbers.

Tim Murphy (R) and Jason Altmire (D) have voted with each other 70% of the time. Are you going to tell me that Tim Murphy is too liberal for his Conservative District?

Define BIG benefits? Benefits don’t start ‘rolling’ in until you retire and then you usually wait until you are 62, and the old huge pensions are gone. I don’t believe that Congresspeople get healthcare after they retire anymore, but I don’t have any proof of that. This is by far the worst argument that the Rothfus supporters have put out there.

That’s fine that you don’t think he is worth it, but lets be honest, you wouldn’t think any Democrat would be worth it.
