Third-party hopeful drops gubernatorial bid

The self-proclaimed Tea Party candidate for governor has withdrawn from the race.

John Krupa was facing a ballot challenge, and court proceedings in the case were set to begin when he stepped aside Monday morning, The Associated Press reports.

Krupa, who got some help gathering signatures from supporters of Democratic nominee Dan Onorato, identified himself as a Tea Party candidate, but those credentials were being challenged by an umbrella Tea Party group in the state. The challenge was brought on behalf of the state GOP, and lawyers involved in the case agreed that too many signatures were invalid.

“He didn’t have the requisite number,” Krupa’s lawyer told The AP.

its a shame a good man wont be on the ballot because he unfairly needed 17,000 more signatures than Corbet or Onorato. Whether you liked how he got on or not its just not fair. We need fair and equal ballot access laws in Pa. NOW!! This two party dog and pony show is going to run us into the ground. Oh yea neither Onorato or Corbet will be getting my vote. Good luck to all constitutionalists in the other races.
