Meehan, Fitzpatrick get breakfast with Boehner
House Minority John Boehner is set for a busy two-day stretch in Pennsylvania this month, with a breakfast fundraiser for two of the state’s top GOP congressional candidates added to the schedule.
Boehner will headline the morning event at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown on Aug. 13 for Pat Meehan and Mike Fitzpatrick, according to a Republican familiar with the event. Meehan, who is running in the 7th District, and Fitzpatrick, who is running in the 8th, originally had planned two separate events with Boehner that day. The campaigns decided to combine the events into one breakfast, and a joint fundraising committee has been formed. The proceeds will be split evenly among the campaigns.
The minority leader is also scheduled to headline a fundraiser for Congressman Charlie Dent (R-15) the same day. He’ll be in Johnstown the day before to raise cash for 12th District hopeful Tim Burns.

My two cents

Boehner, FitzFlop and Meehan. It is so hard to want to remain a Republican these days. Obviously, voting for the Dems is not an option – but the Republicans offer nothing other than not being Democrats (which is enough to get my vote). We need a third party option now more than ever – won’t happen overnight but have to start somewhere.

True, Boehner is a fool. Much worse than that is that our entire party is making us out to be a bunch of haters, and with their own version of the facts, our party leadership lies constantly now. Gone is our solid party leadership. With the likes of Boehner and McConnell (not to mention Steele) in charge of our party, I’m too embarassed to vote Republican. I used to be proud of my party. No more. I’ll either sit this one out , or I may even vote the big “D”. Seriously.
