MARINO TO CARNEY: LET’S DEBATE!
By MARINO FOR CONGRESS
Lewisburg, PA – Tom Marino has submitted a formal request to Chris Carney asking for nine one-hour debates. As of today, Carney has only agreed to one. In response to Carney’s unwillingness to publicly debate issues important to the 10th District, Tom Marino issued the following statement:
“I have always believed that the voters should hear where their candidates for public office stand on important issues. Not surprisingly, Chris Carney has refused to debate me throughout the 10th District. He continues to want to hide his record from the people of the district.
Maybe he is afraid to defend the fact that he toes the liberal line and supports the reckless agenda of Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi? Maybe he is afraid of explaining why he votes with Nancy Pelosi more than 91% of the time? Maybe he is afraid of explaining why he voted for the Obama/Pelosi Health Care Bill, which cuts $500 billion dollars in Medicare for our seniors? Or maybe it is because he does not want to explain to the hard working people of this region why more than 75% of his campaign funds have come from liberal special interest groups outside of the District?
Whatever the reason, it is shameful that Chris Carney will not agree to a series of debates to benefit the voters. He would rather issue press releases that attack my character, than face me in a debate. Once again, I call on Chris Carney to debate me one-on-one. I will be ready … any time, any place. Mr. Carney, let’s debate!”
