Marino also getting some Boehner help

Add Republican Tom Marino to the list of House candidates getting a fundraising boost this month from House Minority Leader John Boehner.

Boehner is raising cash for at least six House challengers and incumbents while he’s in the area in a couple weeks. Marino, who’s running against incumbent Democrat Chris Carney in the 10th Congressional District, probably needs Boehner’s help more than anyone, having turned in sub par fundraising numbers last month. Boehner will headline a fundraiser for the former U.S. Attorney Aug. 14. Marino’s campaign has boldly predicted that it will raised half-a-million dollars by summer’s end.

“We’re confident that John’s visit will be another step towards that goal,” Marino campaign spokesman Jason Fitzgerald said. “There is a national interest building in this race. It is one that party believes we can win, and we’re confident that will translate into donations. It already has.”

Boehner is doing at least five events for six candidates during a three-day stretch, starting with a fundraiser for Tim Burns Aug. 12 in Johnstown and ending with his appearance for Marino.

The race between Marino and Carney is currently No. 10 on the pa2010.com Congressional Power Rankings.

Seems like whenever Repubs think about raising campaign funds, they get a Boehner.
