Lentz Flip Flops on Jobs Rhetoric
By MEEHAN FOR CONGRESS
DREXEL HILL, PA – On the heels of Bryan Lentz’ s economic forum in Chester County on Monday night, the Meehan for Congress campaign reminds voters of Bryan Lentz’s real economic agenda.
“Bryan Lentz likes to talk a good game about jobs and the economy when he’s in front of voters, but when it comes to the actual legislation he supports, he’ll do more harm than good to the economy in the 7th District,” said Bryan Kendro, campaign manager for Meehan’s campaign.
Bryan Lentz supports Obamacare and cap-and-trade legislation, both of which will have an adverse affect on the economy in Pennsylvania and in our region.
According to a story in today’s Delaware County Daily Times, Lentz claimed he would vote only for legislation that would keep jobs in the 7th District. He said, “One of the simple positions I’ll take when looking at issues like this – does it help keep jobs in the 7th Congressional District or does it help send jobs somewhere else?”
But according to a study by the National Federation of Independent Business, the employee mandate in the healthcare bill passed by Congress that Lentz supports will result in the loss of 1.6 million jobs between 2009 and 2014. 55 percent of those job losses — 888,000 jobs — would come from small businesses employing less than 100 individuals. And according to a 2009 Heritage Foundation study, cap and trade legislation introduced by Representatives Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Edward Markey (D-MA) and supported by Bryan Lentz would deliver a major blow to Pennsylvania’s economy. More than 67,000 jobs in Pennsylvania will be lost beginning in 2012 if cap-and-trade is in place. During a meeting this morning with the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce Board, Pat Meehan discussed his economic agenda, which includes a suspension of the payroll tax to boost consumer spending and jumpstart the economy, a job creation tax credit for small businesses hiring their first or second employee, and increasing tax write offs for new-start up businesses to encourage investment and entrepreneurship that will create jobs. Pat Meehan also supports a repeal of Obamacare, and he strongly opposes the flawed cap-and-trade bill.
“Job creation will be Pat Meehan’s top priority in Congress, while Lentz’s commitment is to satisfy the left wing of his party with an agenda that will kill employment opportunities for Pennsylvanians,” said Kendro.
