Holden: Higher Taxes or Cuts to Social Security

By ARGALL FOR CONGRESS

POTTSVILLE – Dave Argall, Republican nominee for Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District, questioned Congressman Holden’s views on Social Security.
In an interview with the Reading Eagle on Friday, August 27th, Congressman Holden stated, “…payroll deduction rates will have to rise or benefits will have to decrease to keep the [Social Security] fund solvent in the future.”
“With tax dollars being thrown away in Washington, Congressman Holden is in favor of higher taxes or slashing benefits with Social Security.  This is more of the same rhetoric we have come to expect from a Washington insider.  Unfortunately for our seniors, this year has been difficult with the Democrats in control of Congress.  They continue to pull money out of the Social Security Trust fund to pay for entitlement programs, bailouts and irresponsible spending packages,” stated Dave Argall.
“Our seniors in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania have worked hard and I pledge to protect Social Security.  Unfortunately, one could expect Holden, a career Congressman, stating that we must raise taxes or slash benefits.  Holden is sounding more like his Washington leaders in not wanting to protect and preserve the promise we’ve made to seniors,” continued Argall.
“As your next Congressman, I will fight against privatization of Social Security, keeping our benefits protected and the retirement age should not be raised.  Finally, I will ensure that your taxes are not raised, contrary to what my opponent says,” concluded Argall.
