Former Murphy aides help Lingenfelter
In his rush to get on the 8th District ballot at the last minute, Tom Lingenfelter got some help from a Democratic duo who used to work for one of his opponents.
The Intelligencer reports that Brian Caplan and Jessica Milinichik, who used to work for Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8) and now work for the state Democratic Party, both gathered signatures for Lingenfelter’s nominating petitions.
A ballot challenge is already looming for the perennial candidate in the Bucks County district. As a conservative, he could pull votes from Republican Mike Fitzpatrick and tilt a close race in Murphy’s favor.
Murphy campaign manager Tim Persico told the newspaper that Murphy’s campaign had no involvement with Lingenfelter’s petition drive.
“This wasn’t an operation of Patrick Murphy for Congress,” he said. “Patrick Murphy has better things to talk about. We weren’t involved in this.”

I don’t like the way this looks. These two amatuers need to get thrown in a closet until after election day.
My two cents

If you read the Intelligencer article, these “aides” are college aged ex-interns. Give me a break.
How about researching and reporting a real story like how Pat Poprik, co-chair of the Bucks GOP, retains FitzFlop’s law firm to handle her company’s bond work – or how Pat Poprik’s bond company is the beneficial recipient of no-shop bond purchases by GOP-controlled townships in Bucks County? You’re missing a nice little pay-for-play racket that Poprik, FitzFlop, Cawley, etc. have here in Bucks County.
FitzFlop and Patlose both stink.
GO TOM!

2cent,
Fitzpatrick and Murphy both equally “stink”?
So you are supporting Lingenfelter.
Do you think Lingenfelter will win?
If not, and you know that he will only pull votes from Fitzpatrick, then you are supporting Murphy.
Please explain the logic of supporting a third party candidate who cannot win.
Is it because you are a conservative “purist” who can’t “hold your nose while voting for the lesser of two evils”? How quaint.
Or perhaps this is your position: “We’ll let Murphy keep the seat for now. And then in 2012 we’ll find a TRUE CONSERVATIVE to run against him and then we’ll take the seat back!”
Bad idea. If Murphy wins, the 8th district will be gerrymandered, and the lower part of the county will be merged with Philly to ensure a permanent democratic district.
So here it is:
a vote for Lingenfelter = a vote for Murphy.

[...] According to the Doylestown Intelligencer, two Murphy interns collected signatures to get perennial third party candidate Tom Lingenfelter on the ballot as an Independent. (Ex-Interns Aid Third-Party Bid.) The story was also mentioned on PA2010.com. [...]

I love how these Republicans are getting played. Keep complaining, it’s politics, Republicans are notorious for fixing ballots, deal with it and enjoy two more years of Mr. Murphy, I will!

Reminds me of the desperate tactics the Santorum people were up to in 2006 trying to get a Green on the ballot for US Senate.

some ex interns collect less than 1% of the total signatures and this is a big deal?

Lest we forget that republicans got a third party candidate on the ballot so Chuckey Mc could be elected to the PA House, as well as having plants in Plumstead run as democrats for supervisor then switch parties when elected. What comes around goes around, paybacks are a bitch!
Tommy boy has been trying to get elected to something anything since the 80′s when he ran against Dave Heckler as a democrat. he usually gets about 20 votes total. Let him run so we can at least have some comedy in this election.

“If Murphy wins, the 8th district will be gerrymandered” Yes but if GOP gets control of the state house they can gerrymander him out. Look Fitz is not a great candidate but conservatives hold your nose pull the dam R lever. We got enough Libertarian members coming in this wave. Just hold the fire to Fitzs feet. We can’t let Murphy dived us we need this seat.
Have you guys been down to Levittown Lately? Fitz signs every where. If Mike wins there and you crazy Liberation’s and the Yuppie Upper Bucks Country Club Republicans toe the line. We got this.
