Fitzpatrick supports Lingenfelter ballot challenge
Republican Mike Fitzpatrick’s campaign says it’s supporting an effort to keep independent candidate Tom Lingenfelter off the ballot in the 8th Congressional District. But the campaign won’t disclose the extent of any involvement it has had with the ballot challenge.
Fitzpatrick campaign manager Kyle Whatley called the effort “bipartisan” and said his candidate “shares the concerns” of the four people who brought the challenge. Such challenges are almost always filed at the behest of candidates or official party committees, but neither Fitzpatrick nor party insiders have yet to take responsibility for spearheading the challenge against Lingenfelter.
“There seems to be a lot of irregularities and some examples of outright fraud,” Whatley told pa2010.com.
Whatley also expressed concern that former aides to Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8) helped Lingenfelter gather signatures. The two aides now work for the state Democratic Party, and Murphy’s campaign has denied any involvement in Lingenfelter’s petition drive.
“Patrick Murphy is trying to manipulate and hijack this process,” Whatley said.
The conservative Lingenfelter, who has run for the seat twice before, could potentially pull votes from Fitzpatrick in the Bucks County District. The Bucks County Courier Times has reported that of the four plaintiffs who filed the ballot challenge against him, three are Republicans and one is a Democrat. One, Matthew Haverstick, has ties to the state Republican Party, which spearheaded an effort to strike a cadre of statewide, third-party candidates from the ballot.

It’s time to end the two party system in this country permanently. It’s outdated and antiquated. The more choices voters have in this day and age the better. The two traditional parties hardly serve as adequate platforms for the diverse nature of the populace in entering the second decade of the 21st century. We also desperately need a constitutional convention in Pa. so that THE PEOPLE can take back the government which is for THE PEOPLE, NOT the individuals masquerading as politicians running the supposed government in this state.

My bet:
All four of the challengers are tied to Fitzpatrick and the GOP, and purposely sought out Jordan Yeager to take the challenge because he is *the* Democratic election lawyer in Bucks. Then, GOP can say “this is bipartisan”.

@ BB
The two party system has worked splendidly since the early days of our Republic. The system won’t change. If you want to accomplish something you must learn to harness the system to achieve your ends. Very few ppl have ever been savvy enough politically and policy wise to harness the system to achieve monumental change in this country. Right now you are living in the midst of one of the few moments in American political history when a great political operator has come along to transform this country. His names is Barack Obama.
The truth is that the American people are too stupid to comprehend anything more than an A vs. B or yes or no choice in a general election.
Crackpots like you that sit around complaining about the two party system are wasting your time and will never accomplish anything. Go smoke dope with Rand Paul and the Tea Party.

TB, What’s with the name calling? Why do you have to stoop so low to be childish? You have no idea who I am, or what I stand for other than seeking the end of the two party system in this country which is MY OPINION. This blog enables us to exchange opinions based on stories that are written. I can respect yours, you obviously can not respect mine. I don’t believe the American public is too stupid to comprehend anything more than A or B, or yes/no in a general election, we agree to disagree. But I don’t think you’re a crackpot for that opinion. BTW, I happen to think highly of President Obama, and I am as far from being a Rand Paul and Tea Party supporter as the earth is from the moon. I just happen to think that the two party system stinks and needs to be changed. So please, stop judging a book by its cover or so superficially, it makes you look like a moron. AND THAT IS NOT AN OPINION.

Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people….Eleanor Roosevelt.
I was really looking forward to some educated opinions on this site. While I find you calling each other crack pots amusing, do you really think it gives your arguments any credibility? I think my small children could express their opinions in a more educated and respectful manner.
As for the person who posted asking if Fitz was
gay…Really? I guess you missed the wife and six children part of his bio.
All Im seeing is a bunch of small minds name calling. Great minds where are you?

I agree Eyes Open. It does bring the credibility of the site down when individuals post ridiculous unsupported rantings. Thank you for using the phrase “Ad Hominen”. I did not know what it meant and as a result learned something new today.
Hey eyes open…
Expecting a certian level of educated and respectful opinions on any given topic does not mean someone supports censorship. Free speech ( please note the correct spelling of speech and you may learn something today too) is essential to our great nation. It’s just a shame that some use it not for the use intended by our founding fathers, but rather for ad hominem (thank you again eyes open) attacks against Fitzpatrick ( also note correct spelling) and others because they have nothing of value to offer to the discussion.
