Clinton: Sestak ‘knows how to solve problems’
SCRANTON—Former President Bill Clinton talked up his party’s Senate candidate at a campaign rally here Tuesday, even as Joe Sestak himself was stuck in Washington because of a House vote on federal aid to state governments.
Clinton was in town as part of a busy campaign day in the Keystone State, which includes fundraisers for congressional hopeful John Callahan and gubernatorial nominee Dan Onorato. But his appearance for Sestak, a former defense policy adviser in his administration, was his only public stop of the day, and the afternoon rally at Scranton High School drew several hundred people.
“We need people who have the best interest of ordinary Americans at heart and who are going to solve problems,” Clinton said. “[Sestak] as dedicated his life to his country… he knows how to solve problems.”
Much of Clinton’s address to the crowd amounted to a lecture on the contrast between his economic policies and those of the Bush administration, as he warned that only Democrats could continue to mend a struggling economy.
“Everybody knows that this is supposed to be a tough year for any Democrat that’s running for office,” Clinton said. “For most working families, things don’t look better than they did the day President Obama took office. But when you get in a hole, the first thing you have to do is stop digging. We can’t give the shovel back to the Republicans after only two years.”
Sestak addressed the crowd by video from Washington.
“I want to thank the president not just for being here today,” he said, “but for reminding us all what the right course is for America.”
In a statement after the rally, Republican Pat Toomey’s Senate campaign turned back to the growing federal deficit.
“When President Clinton teamed up with Republican majorities in Congress, we had a balanced budget,” Toomey spokeswoman Nachama Soloveichik said. “When President Obama teamed up with Nancy Pelosi and Joe Sestak, we got the largest deficits in American history. The clear solution is to send Pat Toomey to the Senate to provide a check and balance against the massive overspending by the liberal leadership in Washington.”

Sestak knows how to create problems.

Just a reminder for Mr. Toomey, not one single Republican voted for the tax increase that former Pres. Clinton proposed and was approved by Congress. It was the now mother-in-law of his Clinton’s daughter who cast the deciding vote to pass the increase. The Republicans made sure she did not get re-elected because of that vote.

Sestak knows how 2 solve problems…
disenfranchising thousands by getting 3rd party candidates off the ballot and awkwardly downplaying a job offer he cried about during the primary.

Sestak is a beloved leader in Delaware County, and has led troops in war. It is no surprise to those who know him that he had enough integrity to not let Clinton rearrange his intentions. We know he’s true to what matters.

No one is disenfranchised if a Candidate doesn’t meet the required number of signatures on his petition. There is no right to a spot on the ballot simply because you want to be on it. As to the job offer it’s been addressed ad nauseum, Congressman Sestak never cried about it during the primary, I think you spent more time on it than he did. Future Senator Sestak only honestly answered a question put to him by Larry Kane in an interview. I Guess you have a problem with honest politicians.

Yes Sestak sure does know how to solve problems… just hire expensive lawyers to bully competition the ballot using legal technicalities when you know the opponent can’t afford to defend himself.
JOE THE BULLY lost my Democratic vote and a probably lot more than the two gentlemen he greedily threw off the ballot would have gotten if he would have let them alone so they could run.
And if you donated to Sestak’s campaign, is this how you want your money to be used? Hiring big-time lawyers to steamroll democracy???

Hey All Wet, hello… These candidates HAD the correct number of signatures. The PA Dept of State accepted both Vodvarka and the Green Party man as candidates. They won’t even let you file if you don’t have the signatures.
But then Sestak challenges the petitions and his lawyers use legal technicalities (like some one forgets to write JR or SR after his name) to get a lot of them disqualified. So not only is the candidate cheated of his opportunity to run, these voter are cheated of their opportunity to sign for and support a candidate they want on the ballot.
Sestak says he wants to support the little guy but he has millions in his war chest to hire lawyers to beat these candidates down and bully them off the ballot. What Sestak did is mean spirited and plain flat out AGAINST DEMOCRACY.

So I guess all the people here who are against the Sestak challenge are against Meehan and Fitzpatrick challenging Schneller and Lingenfelter, respectively?

Pademocratic voter
you have to have the correct number of legal signatures, they have to be registered verifiable voters. Vodvarka and whats his name of the green party didn’t legally measure up. With any luck if the AG can take time out from using his office for political gamesmanship, Pat Meehan’s fraudulent petitions will be tossed too.

Billy Healy – You are such an apologist for Joe Sestak. This guy is a walking and talking contradiction. It was Joe Sestak who during an interview criticized the Democratic Party for not endorsing him during the primary while saying that they should’ve been encouraging others to run; but then he goes and gets fellow-Democrat Joe Vodvarka kicked-off the ballot. So basically Joe Sestak thinks that he has the right to tell other Democrats what they should do but then he’ll go and do the exact opposite simply because it will best serve his political interests. This is one of the many examples that prove exactly why Joe Sestak is a hypocrit and he’s not worthy of a seat in the United States Senate.
Joe Sestak is a lackluster politician who’s trying to hustle his way into a higher office in order to serve his own ego and personal interests. So he’ll make petty challenges against a regular citizen who wants to participate in the political process; which by the way Bill Healy is a right that’s bestowed upon that individual simply for being an American citizen of proper age. The United States is a Republic of the people and all citizens of proper age should have the right to run for office; regardless of whether they’re a member of a major or minor political party. These petty ballot rules (which by the way are not in the Constitution) that are administered by state and/or local governments are similar to Jim Crow laws because it gives the powers to be (which in this case is both the Democratic and Republican Party) the ability to disenfranchise another (which in this case would be a 3rd Party and independent candidate). So with these challenges Joe Sestak (and any other politician who’s done the same) is participating in the disenfranchisement of American citizens.
But of course Sestak apologists will (as they usually do make) excuses as to why everything this guy says and does is divine even though he’s proven time and time agagin the biggest sleeze ball in PA Democratic politics. The guy reminds me more of a used car salesman as opposed to a dignified statesman. Hopefully Sestak’s unconstitutional challenge will not prevail because I plan to vote for the Green candidate in the General Election and hope that 6 years from now PA Democratic voter will find a better candidate than Joe Sestak because his character is one that lacks dignity, integrity, and principle. A man of noble character would not try to deny a citizen the right to run for office…….SHAME ON YOU JOE SESTAK!!!

Joe Vadvarka simply failed to meet the very simple requirments for getting on the ballot in Pa. No one got him kicked off. Good luck with that write in vote for the green candidate, I don’t think his petitions will stand up under a close look by the courts.
