Mike Kelly Teams Up With Pete Sessions To “Go Back To The Exact Same” George W. Bush Economic Agenda

Just days after NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions declared that Republicans would “go back to the exact same agenda” of George W. Bush if they had their way, Republican Mike Kelly (PA-3) is joining Sessions tonight to show his commitment to that plan. This evening Mike Kelly is attending a fundraiser with Pete Sessions at the Republicans’ private Capitol Hill Club in Washington, DC.

Mike Kelly has already declared his support for making the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy permanent – despite the fact that his plan would add billions to the national debt – so it’s no surprise that he is on board with a full return to the Bush economic agenda. The fundraiser comes two days after it was reported that Mike Kelly is more interested in talking about football than he is economic policy, which is also no surprise considering the Bush economic policies that Kelly stands for helped create the worst recession our country has seen in decades.

“Mike Kelly only wants to talk about football because it gives him a chance to avoid talking about the disastrous George Bush economic policies he’d put in place,” said Shripal Shah, Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Make no mistake about it – Mike Kelly’s economic policies are the same ones that helped create the worst recession our country has seen in decades.”

“Mike Kelly’s economic agenda, littered with tax cuts for special interests and his fellow millionaires, is exactly what northwestern Pennsylvanian families can’t afford right now. He should expect voters to reject that platform this November.”
