Kelly raises little, but keeps kicking in his own cash

Republican Mike Kelly said he was willing to ante up more cash for his 3rd District congressional race. In the days before and after his primary win, the Butler car dealer put his money where his mouth is.

Kelly loaned his campaign another $250,000 in May and June, according to newly-filed campaign finance data. Most of the loans were made before he captured the party’s nomination to take on Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper (D-3). But his latest loan of $75,000 was made on June 30, the day the latest FEC reporting period closed. Kelly has now cut checks to his campaign totaling $415,000.

That money has made up the bulk of Kelly’s fundraising, both before and after the primary. His campaign collected less than $50,000 in outside contributions between April 29 and June 30. After spending heavily in the crowded primary, Kelly finished June with about $103,000 in the bank.

Dahlkemper’s quarterly campaign finance report had not yet been published early Thursday morning, but the freshman lawmaker is expected to carry a healthy cash advantage into the November election.

Their race is currently No. 2 on the pa2010.com Congressional Power Rankings.

This one I am not concerned about. 10 and 17 are real issues but the GOP will take 3. She is much more vulnerable than Carney or Holden.
