Corbett says he’s not resigning

Attorney General Tom Corbett is apparently unmoved by calls for him to resign from office and focus on his gubernatorial bid.

Corbet, the GOP nominee, told Fox29 on Wednesday that his tenure as attorney general will only end when his term is over or if he is elected governor in November. He noted that Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell would get to appoint a successor if Corbett resigns now, “and I’m not going to do that.”

“The people of Pennsylvania reelected me in 2008 with a very sizeable number of votes to do a job,” Corbett said, “and I’m going to keep that job until such time as I finish that term, or the people decide to make me governor of Pennsylvania.

    Is concern about your replacement the only reason for not resigning Tom? Then do what any good politician who placed the best interest of Pennsylvanians first would do: negotiate your replacement with Rendell. Or are you just making and excuse for not resiging when you know that you should?

    I think one thing from this interview is obvious…the resignation issue is a sensitive one for Corbett and he hasn’t really came up with a good strategy on how to handle it yet. Onorato should focus on this, but Dan isn’t exactly the most skilled politician in the world so I doubt Corbett is staying up late at night worried about it. Onorato and Sestak are both dull and act like a deer in headlights during every interview. I guess they went to the Bob Casey, Jr. school of public policy. If only they both had a unibrow…
