Congressman Toomey Frantically Defends False Attack Ads

By SESTAK FOR SENATE

MEDIA, Pa. – As reported today by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, (2 television stations to pull ad critical of Sestak) WPGH and WPMY in Pittsburgh decided Wednesday to stop airing an attack ad by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce aimed at Admiral Joe Sestak. Joe’s opponent, Congressman Toomey, is rushing to the defense of the advertisement, launched by a wealthy and ultra-conservative interest group from outside Pennsylvania. The ad is full of false, misleading, and deceptive statements, including about Joe’s record on energy and health care policy, and is indicative of the campaign being run by Joe’s opponents.

“Congressman Toomey’s frantic efforts to defend these lies are a desperate attempt to distract voters from his own record on the issues,” said Sestak campaign spokesman Jonathon Dworkin. “The Toomey record is clear — defend Wall Street at the expense of working families, advocate for the privatization of social security and raise taxes on the middle class. People are tired of Wall Street/Washington insiders distorting the truth. Joe believes it’s time for accountable leadership.”
