Boehner coming to raise cash for Burns

House Minority Leader John Boehner will make a trip to Johnstown next month to headline a fundraiser for Republican Tim Burns.

Boehner is scheduled to be in town on Aug. 12, a visit that comes after the wealthy businessman’s fundraising has slowed in the wake of his special election loss to Democrat Mark Critz. Boehner is also raising money for Congressman Charlie Dent (R-15) that week.

“John’s visit shows there is still a lot of national interest in this race, and we’re certainly honored to have the future Speaker of the House coming in,” Burns campaign aide Kent Gates told pa2010.com.

Burns raised only about $10,000 during the last three weeks of June, according to campaign finance data.

“There wasn’t a lot of fundraising prior to this event,” Gates said, “but we’re expecting a pretty big turnout and a successful event in terms of cash.”

I’ll bet this fundraiser was set up before Leader John Boehner learned how little money Burns raised during the last three weeks of June…just $10,000! Seriously, is that all?

If nothing else, it shows what little financial support Burns has since he was soundly beaten in the Special Election.

This stop in Johnstown by Leader John Boehner is truly a waste of time and someone at the NRCC has made a major scheduling error. Boehner is much better off going to Butler for Kelly (PA-3) or Doylestown for Fitzpatrick (PA-8) or Williamsport for Marino (PA-10) or Hazelton for Barletta (PA-11). There are so many better opportunities for the GOP in PA…and instead Leader John Boehner is wasting his time on ill-advised trip to a district (PA-12) the GOP can not win. How stupid!
