Towne to be included in October debate
The third-party little guy will get his moment on stage with the main players in the 15th Congressional District.
Jake Towne, the libertarian-leaning independent candidate in the race, is set to participate in an October debate with incumbent Republican Charlie Dent and Democratic challenger John Callahan. The appearance in the debate, sponsored by The Morning Call, will offer the political outsider and super-underdog some much needed publicity just a few weeks before the general election contest.
“I’ve challenged Callahan and Dent to debate me on more than one occasion…” Towne told pa2010.com. “So when The Morning Call contacted me, I accepted immediately.”
Details for the debate have yet to be determined. Towne still needs to collect thousands of signatures to get on the ballot in the Lehigh Valley district, which is currently No. 5 on the pa2010.com Congressional Power Rankings.

This is great news for voters, for Jake Towne, and especially for John Callahan. Right-leaning voters will get a chance to see up close whether Charlie Dent truly shares their conservative values. If he tacks to the right to prevent the teabagger base from backing a more conservative candidate, he will render himself an unacceptable choice to the substantial block of Democratic swing voters he has consistently relied on to put him over the top in this D+2 district.

Good move MC. Your candidate Callahan has little chance of winning without a viable third party.
