Rendell: Onorato is the ‘underdog’
Gov. Ed Rendell still thinks that the race to succeed him is Tom Corbett’s to lose.
The term-limited Rendell had already once said that Corbett, the Republican Attorney General, is “probably the favorite” in the race against Democrat Dan Onorato. In an interview with Politico, Rendell, who is expected to campaign hard for Onorato, called Corbett a “tough candidate to beat.” He said Onorato’s prospects are better because Corbett “unnecessarily” tacked right in the GOP primary, which he easily won.
“I thought when the year began, that Tom would be an extraordinarily tough candidate to beat,” Rendell said. “I still think he’ll be tough to beat because he was a moderate Republican with a friendly persona.”

No one cares what Rendell thinks. Lame duck, low approval rating governors are useless windbags.

wow..very astute on the guvs part…2 term statewide incumbent (even to eh has been completely ineffctive as an ag and is a horrific campaigner) gives him immediate credibility and name recognition which will all be eroded by the truth and his opponent’s message.

This is news why? Big Ed has been saying the same thing for months, dating back pre-primary. Corbett has the name recognition advantage now, but won’t want it once negative ads start coming. The guy is a total creep and I’m sure Onorato will point out all the ways in which he’s abused the power of his office.

Ed Rendell has donated to Corbett through friends, so he is propping up Corbett, only cares about his political power not Onoratos. Just look at his reign n Philly, ignoring the neighborhoods, in favor of the rich in Center City.
