Poll: Toomey leads Sestak by seven
With excitement from last month’s primary having died down, Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey now leads Democrat Joe Sestak by seven points, according to a new poll.
The Rasmussen survey released Friday showed Toomey garnering 45 percent of the vote, compared to 38 percent for Sestak. Twelve percent of voters are still undecided and five percent prefer another candidate in the high-profile Senate race.
After a big primary win against Arlen Specter last month, Sestak was holding small leads in public polls. The Rasmussen survey was the first public data that had Toomey back on top, where he was much of the time leading up to the primary.
The poll appeared to be the first one examining any fallout from the disclosure that the White House offered Sestak an unpaid advisory position to get out of the Democratic primary. In response to the question “In terms of how you will vote this November, how important is the White House job offer made to Congressman Joe Sestak?” 52 percent of respondents said it was somewhat or very important.
The survey of 500 likely voters, conducted Wednesday, had a margin of error of 4.5 percent.

Bill Healy, it’s downright chilling that you would run a poster’s name through a voter database, and even more chilling that you would advertise that fact on a public blog.
While I’ve been skeptical of Sestak through most of this, I’ve not stated that I won’t be voting for him. The point of public forums is that we have an open opportunity to air our thoughts, influence each others’ ways of thinking, and ultimately to persuade each other of our candidate’s virtues. That’s what democracy in this country has come to stand for, and you cheapen its meaning when you resort to “tactics” like this.
Most importantly, you do your candidate no favors by publicly admitting to checking up on people. I doubt anyone in Sestak’s organization asked you to do this, but that doesn’t make it any less creepy.

Matt-
Bill is completely irresponsible when it comes to dealing with sensitive voter data. He’s supposed to be an office clown dialing for dollars and really shouldn’t have access to a state-wide search. That functionality and level of access should be restricted to the senior staff only, and not to a creep like Bill, who would use it to intimidate.
Bill, and the Sestak drones, seems to have lots of wet dreams about Joe running for President in 2016.
Bill is such a zero that he needs to feel important by latching onto Sestak or trying to look up another poster to get one up on him. He’s really quite sad.

Bill-
I’ve posted the data for discussions of candidate eligibility and to confirm/refute various claims. Please don’t equate your irresponsible behavior (and the failure of the Sestak campaign to secure data access) with me.
Oh, right, you “dial for little old ladies”. I’d forgotten how you bragged about all the women you had talked to during the primary.
So, they’ve got you doing all that phone banking and don’t trust you to call for donations??
That’s a shame.
You should march right into Joe’s or Rich’s office and pitch your idea for Sestak’s fix to the unemployment numbers: “an unpaid position is still a job”.
I think what confused you was the difference between “job” and “work”. An unpaid position for Sestak’s campaign isn’t a “job”, but it is a lot of “work”.
