Pennsylvania Building Trades Endorse Dan Onorato For Governor
By ONORATO FOR GOVERNOR
PITTSBURGH, PA: The Pennsylvania State Building & Construction Trades has endorsed Dan Onorato as the next Governor of Pennsylvania and praised his work in rejuvenating Allegheny County’s economy. The endorsement adds to the growing support Onorato has received since winning the Democratic gubernatorial primary in May.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Pennsylvania Building Trades,” said Onorato. “These men and women understand the value of a strong and growing economy and the important role it plays in our state’s vitality. I look forward to working with them to prepare our state to compete in the global economy.”
The Building Trades represent 118 local unions, 16 regional councils and more than 106,000 workers – including both the Pittsburgh Building Trades and the Johnstown Building Trades Councils which endorsed Onorato during the Democratic Primary.
“The Building Trades is proud to endorse Dan Onorato as the next Governor of Pennsylvania because he is the only candidate with the ability to move Pennsylvania in the right direction,” said President Frank Sirianni. “Our members have been hit hard by job losses and a dismal economic climate. Dan has proven that he has what it takes to turn our economy around. As Allegheny County Executive, Dan has helped lead an economic revival in the region, where private sector job creation and economic development are among the strongest in the country. Pennsylvania families need a governor who will make creating good jobs their highest priority, and there is no question that Dan Onorato is the candidate best prepared to do that.”
As Executive of Pennsylvania’s second-largest county, Onorato worked to attract new businesses and encourage private sector job creation in high-growth industries. Allegheny County now has more jobs than any other county in the state and an unemployment rate that is below both the state’s and the nation’s. Last month, the Pittsburgh region had the fastest rate of private sector job creation in the country.
As Governor, Onorato will work to improve the economy across Pennsylvania. Onorato’s plan to grow the economy and strengthen communities includes:
· Establish a climate where businesses can succeed;
· Launch a “Grow Your Own” success strategy to help firms start, expand and prosper;
· Encourage entrepreneurship and innovation;
· Boost export opportunities for Pennsylvania companies and attract foreign companies to the state; and
· Ensure that Pennsylvania’s workforce is prepared for and able to access high-skill, well-paying jobs.
“I have solid and proven plans to create jobs and encourage business investment in Pennsylvania,” said Onorato. “As Governor, I will be ready from day one to implement policies that will put our economy back on track.”
