Murphy stays in house for finance team

After elevating his money man to campaign manager, Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8) is staying in house for his finance team.

Murphy has promoted Maggie Spitzer and Maxine Fertig-Cohen as a sort-of double-headed finance director. The two worked on the field staff of Murphy’s 2008 campaign, and Spitzer was more recently on Murphy’s congressional staff.

Tim Persico, Murphy’s finance director during his first two races, was recently tapped as campaign manager. In Murphy, Spitzer and Fertig-Cohen have a boss who is a potent fundraiser in his own right, thanks to a national profile as the first Iraq War veteran elected to Congress. He also holds an early cash lead over Republican opponent Mike Fitzpatrick.

The Bucks County district is currently No. 10 on the pa2010.com Congressional Power Rankings.
