LENTZ SHOWS BIPARTISAN LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT FOR BILL TO AID DISABLED VETERANS
By LENTZ FOR CONGRESS
Media, PA – Today, Representative Bryan Lentz, a decorated Iraq War veteran, put aside partisan politics and brought bipartisan leadership and support to an amendment to the current procurement bill that provides aid to disabled veterans. The bill would bring Pennsylvania law in line with federal law by including disabled veterans and their businesses as a group that receives preference in state contracts.
Lentz reached out to the members of the committee from both sides of the political aisle that will consider the amendment this week, urging them to support this positive reform to help wounded Pennsylvania veterans.
“As a former Army Airborne Ranger, I’ve seen the devastating effects that combat has on our fighting men and women and their families,” said Lentz. “This issue is too important for partisan politics. We owe our veterans so much and they deserve every opportunity to succeed when they return home.”
Lentz has also recruited fellow veteran community leaders to join his advocacy efforts. Tom Clay, the Vice Commander of Delaware County Chapter #113 of Disabled Veterans of America, and Purple Heart winner Shannon Meehan joined Lentz in support of the bill and submitted letters to the committee to accompany Lentz’s note and encourage its passing.
“When it comes to disabled veterans, there’s no time for partisan politics and self-serving press conferences—there’s only time to do what’s right for our veterans,” said Lentz. “Whether you served in uniform or not, every American can understand the obligation we have to honor and support the brave men and women who risk their lives for our country. “
The bipartisan leadership demonstrated by Lentz on this common-sense reform to benefit disabled veterans is all too rare in Harrisburg and Washington. Lentz is a proven leader in the Army and has once again shown he is a legislator who knows how to get things done.
“This is exactly the kind of bipartisan bill that Americans are looking for,” said Lentz. “When it comes to helping disabled veterans succeed, party affiliation simply doesn’t matter.”
