Actor running as libertarian in 8th District

The two candidates in the 8th Congressional District might have some company in the November election: a Bristol-based actor who co-founded an advertising and publicity firm and now wants to be the libertarian congressman from Pennsylvania.

Eric Wisener has launched a campaign Web site and filed paperwork with the FEC. He has yet to raise any significant amount of money or collect the signatures needed to get on the ballot. Born in Bryn Mawr and educated at New York University, Wisner’s company Web site says he has “numerous commercial credits.” His campaign Web site says he also worked at the Treasury Department.

He’ll face a steep uphill battle in trying to get traction in the high profile race between Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8) and Republican Mike Fitzpatrick.

“Libertarians understand that government subsidies in numerous industries created our entirely false economy,” Wisener says in an “open letter” to libertarians on his Web site. “These subsidies must be systematically disassembled so we don’t create a competitive advantage for certain companies and industries. Rhetoric will not solve this problem. Without detailed timetables and a comprehensive strategy we will neither reduce the size of our government or get elected. We are not building a new nation. We must forge strategic alliances on key issues to alter the course we’re taking, rather than engage in slash and burn politics that will leave us all wanting.”

    A pro-Abortion, pro-gay agenda, liberal, libertarian.

Pat Murphy on social issues with a patina of Tom Lingenfelter.

    Run Wisener, RUN?!

Sounds like this “actor” is acting as a spoiler for Patrick Murphy. Has anyone looked to see how long he has been registered as a libertarian?

Finally, another choice for voters in the district. Contrary to popular opinion, who says it’s an uphill fight? Has someone polled every voter in the district? Last I checked, voters with independent thinking have had enough of the status quo, and that’s a majority of the voters in the district. I think once this candidate is officially on the ballot he has a great shot at winning. Taxpayers want a fresh face that will represent THEIR interests, and an “outsider” is exactly what’s needed. Now we need more third party candidates to run for other Pa. offices to give residents of the Commonwealth some real choice. Enough with all of these worn out insiders only thinking of their own agenda, NOT THAT of their constituents.

    Criminy!

Another, go-nowhere LP dunce who talks the talk of a person with absolutely no knowledge of how the economy works. If the LP ever gained the slightest bit of traction and got their way on economic issues, the unemplyment rates would rise and the Dow Jones Industrial Average would rocket down to under 3000 and people in poverty would be a majority.

And BB… the LP, after nearly 40 years of existence, has a whopping 200 people elected to public office nationwide in school boards and dog catchers. Want to disenfranchise your own vote? Vote third party.

Not much difference between FitzFlop and Murphy – and both of the local parties are corrupt. I’ll vote for this guy before the career politician/flip-flopper from the GOP or the socialist on the Left.

Add Lingenfelter and a disenfranchised conservative base (of which I am a party of) who hates in the local GOP – and it looks like a Murphy victory in November to me.

Don’t worry, conservatives will try to get it right in 2012. Hopefully, after FitzFlop loses in November, the dinosaurs in the Bucks GOP will either die off or be driven out and we can then reform the Bucks GOP and have true conservative candidates and not ones who suddenly become conservative after getting voted out of office.

Well, the dinosaurs are dying off. And the county is still trending to the Democrats in the voter registration counts, to that is a plus for the county and the country.

HMMMM…..AN ACTOR???? A BUSINESS OWNER….WOW…TOO KIND! AN UNEMPLOYED GUY WHO THREW HIS NAME INTO THE HAT OF A CONTEST HE CAN’T EXPECT TO WIN. SOME PEOPLE REALLY LIVE IN FANTASY LAND. MAYBE HE SHOULD WORRY ABOUT MARRYING HIS FINANCEE AND BEING A DAD AND STAY OUT OF A POLITICAL RING WHERE HE HAS NOT QUALIFICATIONS AND NO EXPERIENCE. WHAT A FREAKING JOKE. WHAT HAS OUR COUNTRY BECOME WHEN WE ALLOW A LOSER LIKE THIS TO RUN FOR PUBLIC OFFICE. SMOKE UP ANOTHER DOOBIE!

    Denise:

Are you saying that being unemployed and having a big ego (for no reason) are NOT qualifications for Congress?

No one running for office is truly “unemployed”, they’re all “small business owners” or “consultants”. And they’re all impressive – just look at their web-sites!

Remember Carlino? She was a really, really impressive educated mom, with lots-n-lots-n-lots of educations. She was a true conservative (I believe her cause she said so…..) Boy did she have it all!

Wisener will be a hero to every fool, bufoon, charlatan and Diano in the 8th District.

Surely you’re not suggesting that he likes to smoke the peace pipe?

Our nation needs good leaders, but unfortunately politics more often attracts the schlemiels.

Hey “Bucks County Voter”, your village called…they want their idiot back.

Hey, Ed H., I never said I was going to vote for Mr. Wisener, I simply stated that it was about time voters in this district had A CHOICE and to let it all play out before all of you self-absorbed “experts” have the matter set in cement. Relax, let it all play out first. I admit I would have to see more from this candidate before I could make a decision on who to vote for in this race, but to say that just because he’s a Libertarian Party candidate means that’s disenfranchising my vote is simply disingenuous on your part. I vote for candidates, not parties. And why the juvenile name-calling of a “dunce”? What’s the purpose other than making yourself look like an insecure wannabe? Do you even know the man? Do you even know his human characteristics, or are you guessing to simply make a “see me now” quote on this blog to feed your own ego? Jeez, it’s one thing to offer up thoughtful opinions in making a comment on this site, it’s another to spew out a bunch of hot air with no substance.
