Trivedi raises four times Pike’s haul in April—but daunting cash deficit remains
Democrat Manan Trivedi raised about $41,000 in April, more than four times what 6th District primary opponent Doug Pike brought in, according to campaign finance data. But Pike finished the month with the same huge cash on hand advantage that he has had for months, one built on the million dollars the former Inquirer editorial writer has given his own campaign.
Trivedi, a Reading doctor, has brought in about $442,000 since getting into the race last fall. Three weeks before the primary, his campaign had about $151,000 in the bank, according his pre-primary campaign finance report. Trivedi’s fundraising has picked up speed in recent months, but he never seemed to turn the corner in a way that would allow for any significant narrowing of the cash-on-hand gap.
Pike, meanwhile, has struggled to raise money from contributors other than himself, despite rolling out a finance committee last year full of big names. He raised less than $10,000 during the period, and for the first time in months, he did not put more of his own money into the campaign. He still enjoyed a large campaign war chest of $1.1 million. He spent lightly, and did not shell out cash for his first direct-mail campaign until after the reporting period closed on April 28.
Trivedi spent more, dropping about $72,000 on, among other things, more than $30,000 in various consulting fees and about $6,300 on a poll conducted by prominent Democratic pollster Celinda Lake.
Incumbent Republican Jim Gerlach raised more than $56,000 and finished the period with about $295,000 on hand. The race is currently ranked No. 6 on the pa2010.com Congressional Power Rankings.

while Trivedi had to work his ass off raising money because of the gap I bet Pike was out winning an election. sad state of politics, but Pike has the resources and the support.

Trivedi’s bird is cooked. He may have 2 supporters on here who keep making things look close through shameful rhetoric, but with all the work the Pike people have done there is no way he wins. I’ve received the mailer and had my door knocked on by a vol. of the Pike campaign. I am excited to vote for Pike and can’t wait to have him representing me and the rest of the 6th district. I can’t understand the hype behind Tryvedi.
Oh wow.

Got a mailer from Trivedi today. Interesting.
Part of it reads, “Doug Pike turns his back on military families and veterans” and then cites examples of how Pike “opposes a pay increase for our troops” and how Pike supports a “plan to cut benefits to veterans.”

so Trivedi ignores Pike’s offer to stay positive and then makes shit up? Awful, not what we as democrats hope for in our candidates.
