Santorum backs Marino in the 10th

Santorum backs Marino in the 10th

Former Senator Rick Santorum endorsed Republican Tom Marino for Congress on Thursday, saying the former U.S. Attorney “shares the common-sense values of the hard working people of northeastern Pennsylvania.”

Marino is one of three candidates vying for the GOP nomination in the 10th Congressional District, along with Snyder County Commissioner Malcolm Derk and Luzerne County chiropractor David Madeira. Party leadership has allowed the primary to play out mostly unfettered, and much of the high-level GOP support has come to Marino.

“I have known Tom Marino since the early 1990′s and have always admired his honesty, integrity, and commitment to conservative principals,” Santorum said in a statement. “He earned a reputation as a tough-as-nails prosecutor during his tenure as Lycoming County District Attorney and United States Attorney for the Middle District. I am proud to support his campaign for United States Congress.”

The race in incumbent Democrat Chris Carney’s district is currently ranked No. 7 on the pa2010.com Congressional Power Rankings.

this endoresment may push casino marino over the top in the republican primary, but it will sink him in november. NEPA hates santorum as evidenced by the 2006 landslide. this will only turn off moderate republicans that have voted for carney in the past

I have just lost all respect for Santorum! Santorum is using his support to try to push Marino over the top because he knows every day Republicans are tired of business as usual and the corruption in Washington.

Thanks Santorum, you may have just helped Carney keep his seat if Marino gets through the primary.

Interesting – a guy from Western PA, who didn’t even live there (nor did his family) while he was a U.S. Senator (and wanted PA taxpayers to foot the bill for his kids to attend an elitist cyber/charter school in Washington), suddenly knows all about “the common-sense values of the hard working people of northeastern Pennsylvania.” Give me a break, Santorum is the biggest phony in the last 50 years of PA politics.

“Casino Marino?” Is Santorum running a special on unelectable candidates?

Santorum endorses Specter, Santorum endorses Marino, Santorum is apparently out of touch with the rank and file. He won’t put Marino over the top, with his track record, he will drive voters to the only candidate who can beat Carney. Do the research like I did, and you will find that candidate to be http://www.madeiraforcongress.com

You people are just plain nasty.
If you don’t like Marino or Sentorum, why don’t you step up to the plate and run for office. Maybe you can do better.

Watch out Dave Maderia and the goof troop are getting upset! I bet Maderia gets less than 20% of the vote!

Madeira is just as unelectable as Marino.
