Saidel launching first TV ad Friday
Democratic Lieutenant Governor candidate Jonathan Saidel is set to hit the airwaves with his first campaign ad Friday, a 30-second spot that highlights his role as Philadelphia’s fiscal watchdog in the 1990s.
The 30-second spot is airing in every media market except Philadelphia, the campaign said, where Saidel’s name recognition is high from years as the city controller. Saidel, the party’s endorsed candidate and the overwhelming favorite in the May 18 primary, appears to be the only candidate with the campaign cash needed for any kind of a significant advertising blitz. He has raised more money than some top-ticket gubernatorial candidates, and had about $621,000 in the bank at the end of March, according to state campaign finance data. By contrast, retired Commonwealth Court Judge Doris Smith-Ribner had about $72,000 in cash on hand (she loaned her campaign almost $78,000), and state Representative Scott Conklin (D-Centre) had less than $2,000 (at the time, all of Conklin’s campaign cash had come from his other political action committee).
“In the 1990s, Jonathan Saidel brought fiscal discipline to a city on the brink,” a narrator says in the ad.

If you really want to see the difference between Saidel and Conklin, watch this video too. I have been following this race, and I have not seen this before today.

This is what separates leaders from politicians. If only Saidel could learn that being a leader is about helping others and not lining his own pockets.

Saidel raised and supports four (4) children. He is “rich” by any standard. Conklin is a thief. He takes the taxpayers’ money and does NOTHING in return. Conklin and his girlfriend Tor Michaels (what is a Tor anyway) are an ugly duet and not right for government. They could work as a tandem at the VFW spinning records!

So Abe S. Apparently you do not know your information. Compare these two candidates. I think you will see that Conklin has done more for this state than Saidel.

If Saidel was so good as Philadelphia Controller, then how do you explain his hometown paper, the Philadelphia Inquirer endorsing Conklin? The largest paper in the state makes an endorsement, and it does not even rate a blurb on this sight. I think come next Tuesday, no matter the result, I will not be visiting this Biased site again.

Why don’t you leave the state chump. Saidel is “my man”. Don’t like it? Hide behind your “Baffled by BS” username. Yusef Shakur “what’s up?”

we are paying Scotty Cocklin’salary, as we always have been, for him to campaign for other offices. When he was a County Commissioner, he had staff members park in his reserved spot so that it looked like he was at work. He was never there. He was too busy managing his businesses in Pittsburgh. Go to one of them, you will likely see him. Even during the week when he should be earning his paycheck in Harrisburg. Give me a break. There should be a part-time legislature. They don’t do anything and waste(proper this time) a lot of our money. Now he is trout fishing and sending his wife to lie on his behalf -he has dot to go and go quickly

Wow, someone parked in his spot compared to a half a million dollar kickback to dish out million dollar legal contract. Yeah fair comparison. You guys are desperate, if it was not for the money advantage, you would have a chance.

Why aren’t you putting anything up about Scott Conklin? He received the two biggest endorsements.

Wow you Saidel people are unbelievable. You know your candidate is corrupt and you know he will cause the democratic ticket to lose in November and you still come on here and think that by calling Scott Conklin “Cocklin” that you’re helping Saidel? You’re just making him look even dumber. You tried to find dirt on Scott and that’s the best you could do. That’s because Scott didn’t give campaign money away or accept money for filtering business to law firms or he wasn’t under INVESTIGATION by the FBI. That’s why the Philadelphia Inquirer didn’t endorse you and that’s why you will lose.
