Saidel concedes, will request no recount
Just hours after signaling that he wanted a recount in the Democratic primary for Lieutenant Governor, Jonathan Saidel on Wednesday conceded defeat, saying in a statement that he would ask the Secretary of State not to proceed with a recount.
Saidel is trailing state Representative Scott Conklin (D-Centre) by less than 4,000 votes, a margin of less than one-half percent of the vote, slim enough to mandate an automatic recount unless Saidel requests one not be done. The Department of State said Wednesday that it was granting an extension for Saidel to decide whether or not he wanted a recount, but after half of the remaining provisional ballots were counted, Saidel saw little if any possibility for victory in a recount.
“Jonathan Saidel has spent a lifetime saving taxpayers money and has determined that the estimated $500,000 a recount will cost the state is not justifiable given the significant odds against a successful conclusion from our perspective,” his campaign said in a statement. “Jonathan has instructed his legal team to prepare notification to the Secretary of State of his request not to proceed with the automatic recount.”
Conklin will now join Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato on the party’s gubernatorial ticket.
“On behalf of Jonathan Saidel and our entire campaign team, we want to thank the voters of Pennsylvania for giving us the opportunity to participate in this great democratic process,” Saidel’s campaign said. “Jonathan remains deeply committed to serving our Commonwealth and electing a Democratic governor in 2010.”

Congrats to Saidel for a generous decision.
Senate race & Obama will drive huge SE PA Dem turnout; home turf candidates will drive huge WestPA Dem turnout.
Pundits and casual onlookers do not yet get the fact that Dems will be engaged and energized this fall, and that energy will spark wins in both Senate & Gov races. Crazy radical fringe wingnut Pat Toomey will inspire the 20% loon faction that controls the Repub party, but will turn off most moderate and rational voters.

The real question: will Saidel’s toupee concede as well?!? There is a bitterly contested primary battle that no one is talking about: the fight between Saidel’s polyester rug and the natural hair challengers. Only one will win the right to cover his chrome dome in November…..

Congratulations Tom Corbett, Ono”rat”o and Flowbee Cocklin, who sells junk at his barn have given the election to Tom Corbett and local fiend Jim Cawley. We welcome ALL Phiadelphia and our sister counties Delco, Montco, Bucks and Chester (Berks is a bastard county) to support our Southeastern PA candidate Jim Cawley. Never vote for a Cocklin who has a spaced out mouthpiece named Whore Michaels as his Chief of Staff (he loads the junk into the barn for Flowbee) DEMOCRATS FOR CORBETT – we are mobilized. Saidel should switch to Independent and run for Senate. I don’t think he’s excluded by the “Sore Loser” Law.
He could run on a platform of fiscal conservatism and liberal social policy.

We are going to make sure in Philadelphia, that us Democrats give Dan Onarato what he and other fellow Democrats from the Central and Western areas of the State truly deserve in November: A RESOUNDING DEFEAT! Paybacks, Dictator Dan – are a bitch!
And that also is true for Carbon County, Lackawanna County,(the Cesspool of PA) and Luzerne County and the “T” section which is accurately known as our little piece of West Virginia! Years of inbreeding do harm PA…
We are going to make sure in Philadelphia, that us hard working ,loyal Philadelphia Democrats give Dan Ona”rat”o what he and other fellow Democrats from the Central, Northern (think crime =Lackawana) and Western areas of the State truly deserve in November: A RESOUNDING DEFEAT! There will be no “family squabble line” from Democratic City Committee. Pittsburgh and the aforementioned areas of the State, truly Hate Philadelphia. Just listen to that blithering idiot Scotty Boy. It is time to show these backstabbing blowhards who we really are! Payback Time Yin’s!. DEMOCRATS FOR CORBETT
