Rothfus outraises Buchanan again, has loaned campaign $125K
Republican congressional hopeful Keith Rothfus has surpassed 4th District primary opponent Mary Beth Buchanan for the second consecutive period, raking in about $30,000 during April, more than twice what Buchanan raised, according to campaign finance data.
Rothfus, an Edgeworth lawyer, had about $157,000 in cash on hand as of April 28, thanks in large part to the $125,000 he has now loaned his campaign, according to his pre-primary campaign finance report. Buchanan has loaned her campaign $50,000, and finished the period with more than $93,000 in the bank. Rothfus spent more than twice what Buchanan did during the period, and while he has outpaced her fundraising, his current cash advantage is built on the larger amount of money he has kicked into the effort.
The two are competing to take on Congressman Jason Altmire, whose district is currently ranked No. 8 on the pa2010.com Congressional Power Rankings. Altmire raised another $87,000 in April, and finished the period with more than $1.2 million in the bank, an amount that will make him formidable in November.
Their primary has grown more contentious recently, and Rothfus burned through almost $58,000 during the month. But that money could buy him important name recognition, which he needs against Buchanan, who is well-known from her days as U.S. Attorney. Rothfus dropped about $32,000 on his first media buy last month, a total that accounted for advertising on both radio and cable TV. As of April 28, Buchanan had yet to spend any money on major media buys.

It appears Buchanan is hated by Republicans as much as she’s despised by Dems.
What a disaster!
