Murphy gets appropriations seat

Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8) is officially set to takeover the powerful Appropriations Committee seat left vacant by the death of John Murtha.

Politico reports that Murphy will get the seat after the state’s congressional delegation united for a “furious last-minute push” to lobby on his behalf.

There was briefly tension within that delegation, after multiple news reports confirmed that Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-11) had voted for Murphy over Congressman Chris Carney (D-10), despite the fact that Kanjorski and Carney share some of the same counties as constituents.

Kanjorski’s vote also opened a line of attack for primary opponent Corey O’Brien, whose campaign said Kanjorski was giving constituents a back seat to personal politics.

This is great for Murphy and for Pennsylvania. Fitz doesn’t stand a chance.

Bucks, agreed that Fitz does not stand a chance against Murphy. That’s why Gloria Carlineo needs to win the GOP Primary.

She’s trying to reform the Bucks County GOP:

She is distinguishing herself from Fitzpatrick:

She has got a great platform:

Beating Murphy will not be easy. I think the Bucks County GOP is taking it for granted, which is dumb. To have any chance of beating Murphy, the GOP candidate has to appeal to frustrated Dems and independents, and that person is Gloria, not Fitz.

Bucks you mentioned how this is great for Murphy and for Pennsylvania…..you didn’t mention at all how this is great for his constituency of Bucks, Philly, and MontCo. Not to mention you mentioned great for Murphy…personal gain should not be a role for an elected official.

Typical Murphy follower, better to have someone agree with Pelosi most of the time than the desires of the constituents.

Finally, something I can agree on with the Bucks Democratic Party.

It is about time that members of a new generation of Democrats get into committees like Appropriations. These younger Dems realize that they can’t continue business as usual when it comes to government spending.

I am confident that Patrick Murphy will have a positive effect on the committee by eliminating the silly “Bridge to Nowhere” earmarks and providing increased transparency, oversight, and accountability of government funds.
